Karma is a B

I was sifting through the hometown rag known as the "Disturber" and came across an article on how a certain upstart program did not allot enough student tickets. Then, alas, I read the following excerpt: (The name is deleted out of courtesy)
XXXX XXXXXX, a senior from Clayton, has attended dozens of 49ers athletic events during his time at UNCC and was looking forward to going to the school’s first-ever football game.
“I’m not frustrated so much that I’m a senior and some freshmen might have been able to go instead of me,” said Xxxxxx. “It’s just that I’ve been to a lot of events here and I’m not getting rewarded for the time that I’ve put in.”
IF this is, in fact, our very own I'm From Clayton, I'd like to offer my condolences and a bit of advice: Spend less time on OUR board and more in YOUR ticket line. The good news is you won't have this problem for long.

On the one hand, it's great that they have the demand (albeit not surprising based on the tiny stadium and the long, concerted hype initiative), but they really did put the screws to a lot of their students. I have some facebook friends (acquaintances that I assume took a lot of time off before finishing school), that were furious they couldn't get a ticket to that first game.
Learn as you go I guess. Hopefully for their students sake they'll initiate some sort of seniority plan in the future. Novelty is a powerful thing. Especially to a student body that's been yearning for any shred of a college culture since the place opened.
It just helps you appreciate how fortunate we App folks are I suppose. That grass hill and the bench seating in the lower section behind the App bench allow unlimited students to pile in. That, plus incredibly high demand, are why we're able to get ~10,000 students to every game and why our gameday atmosphere is unmatched in North Carolina (since students do most of the jumping and yelling).

That's just not right I'm from Clayton. come to space 321 and We'll treat you to a free seat and a tailgate you won't forget in a setting you will envy. And you get to see a great football program. You deserve better. Tailgate starts at noon witha 330 start on Sept 7. You got screwed.

Yeah, that's a tough one. Are you in the lottery for the extras? Best of luck, if you are.

Yeah! You're genuinely welcome at the App tailgate anytime! Just wear the black and gold and we'll make room for you. We'll teach you how to tailgate while you're at it -- and show you what tradition, an electric atmosphere and 30,000 people look like.

whats sad is one of the reasons UNCC started a football program was to have the students stay on campus during the weekend, and to get away from the commuter school label, and now the day is finally here, and a lot of students who wanted to go, can't..... good job, off to a great start!!

I wonder how many seats were sold to the big corporations in town that will be filled with non-UNCC fans who are just there for the party? It's a catch 22 for any school because sponsors pay a ton of bills, but students make or break the atmosphere. BUT, if you give more seats to students and then the team struggles how many students will be quick to stop showing up? At least the corp seats are paid for even if empty. It sounds like UNCC should have created a priority system for the students to prevent things like this.

kinda reminds me what happen in Chapel Hill 7, 8 years ago, the school gave all the choice seats closest to the floor at the dean dome to Rams club members and boosters and put the students in the upper decks, enough hell was raised that they changed the policy. Whats sad about UNCC, is they told the students if you attend other sports, you would, I believe, earn points that would greatly increase you chances of getting tickets, then the administration went back on their word, and said the points don't matter, they basically "bait and switched" the students. Since this first game is so big, and its probably the most important in terms of gets the students excited about the program, I don't think it would have not been such a bad idea, for this one game only, to set aside 8-10 thousand seats for the students, and make sure all the students that want to attend can.

It sucks but they probably have to go where the money is. New program starting from scratch. They don't have the start that we do with an established program. It sucks but you can understand it.

It appears you guys got some bad information. Charlotte actually has very few "corporate seats" in JRS (less than 5%). 95% of our seats were purchased by individuals (private parties) or students and the students got 7500 seats (nearly 50% of the stadium before expansion). The student section includes seats from the front row to the top row in most sections. So, no way did we NOT give "choice" seats to the students.
I know you guys don't like Charlotte, but it just makes your fanbase look bad when you post false derogatory information.

Glad to hear it. That is the way it should be. I have nothing against you. At some point maybe we will play each other.

Glad to hear it! But I will give you a piece of advice. Opening the parking areas at 8:00 am for a 12 pm game is going to be a nightmare. (From what I understand from a person VERY close to the program)
I predict near gridlock on campus....this needs to be better thought out. From what I remember there are 6 or so entrances to the campus of 29, 49, Harris Bvld and the 29-49 connector road. Where they plan on parking the public is cone....this should be fun to watch....I think I will tailgate for our game at your game afterward to get a good laugh.
Good luck!
....and see what you can do about playing us sometime.....in any sport.

We actually have about 8-9 different large surface lots around campus and 3 or 4 parking decks (for those note tailgating near their vehicles) that are designated for tailgaters. Several can be used by the general "public" either with advanced purchases or game-day purchases. Not to mention, multiple student tailgating lots and "general public" parking (these can still be used with normal permits). Every lot has a designated entrance and exit. The plan is actually very well thought out and was tried and worked extremely well at our Spring Game which was a near sellout. So, if you're looking for a laugh at our expense I think you may go away disappointed.

Appreciate the clarification... However, how does one post make a fanbase look bad? If that's the case you better take your preachin' clothes over to your own board.

One post doesn't, but multiple derogatory AND WRONG (like in this thread and many others I have read on multiple message boards over the last couple years) can give people a bad "image" of a fanbase especially when it is on a schools main message board such as this.

I makes their fanbase look bad when a bunch of them register to post on here, always having to constantly defend their school

I wasn't "defending" my school actually, as it doesn't need it. I was only correcting mis-information. Sorry, next time I will let you linger in "fantasy land".
