UNCG has a 4 page full newspaper size in full color insert in the Greensboro paper today for their men's basketball. The front page is a letter from the coach and the home schedule. Page two is pricing info and player and coach mug shots. Page three is an ad for a special package deal and info on Coliseum seating. There is also a pic of Wes Miller (UNCG Coach) sitting beside the head coach at UNC-CH at the bottom of page three. Page 4 is a Q&A with a rising senior and a small ad for a contest to get free tickets.

UNC-CH is playing UNCG in Greensboro for the first time ever so the UNCG ath dept is pushing that certainly.

I have no idea how much this cost, but I give them credit for pushing attendance and getting the word out in the area.

I wonder if it would help App attendance and make the money back in buying the ad space to do something like this with every small town weekly that neighbors Watauga County and then the larger papers in Morganton, Hickory, Lenoir, obviously Watauga County papers and maybe even Winston-Salem Journal, Charlotte, and Asheville or at least the editions that are delivered closer to Boone.

Getting an insert in the Avery Journal-Times would not be huge outreach, but a small paper like that has to be fairly cheap as an example. The question would be if the cost of an insert would bring in a few extra ticket sales to offset the cost.
