Will we begin to see more of this from the privileged 5?

Don't know, but it actually makes some sense IMO. (Even though a nonconference conference game is a little weird for me to wrap my head around).
Basically, these are teams that should play every year, but don't because of the absurd conference expansions of recent years. So, in terms of fan appeal, it's probably better to play a traditional in-state rival than some random team from several states away, or an FCS team.

This is step number 1 of the P5 creating their own league and cutting out anyone else. I'm surprised its taken this long for this to happen.

This should be step #1 in doing away with divisions in conferences. The championship game decision will need to occur first.
The ACC should set up 3 or 4 pods and play all members on their pod (based on geography) and then 2 from the other pods.
They will eventually go to 9 game conference schedules and that will hurt the home and homes with us.

I'll bet you do. They should also do it in BB. Conference expansion destroyed the home and home which was so popular in the ACC.

This has been fairly common for years in baseball. For as long as I can remember The Citadel and CofC while both were in the SoCon would play a 2 game mid-week non-conference series at the field that did not host the regularly scheduled conference series.
That said, in the long run this is NOT good for us in either football or basketball. Glad we jumped when we did, b/c this is just pushing the FCS/low mid-major conferences futher down the ladder.
