Does anyone else find it interesting that Georgia Southern did not receive an invitation to the NIT or CBI tournaments? Good record and 2 point loss in conference championship game. There are some pretty iffy teams in both of those tourneys. LA Monroe made one of them.

That is a bit odd. Can you imagine how hard the igglets would have been to deal with if they had won Sunbelt titles in both football and basketball this season ? Thank you Ga State for being the tallest midget in the room this year.

Where does the SB rank among major BB conferences? I am guessing fairly low.

as much as I hate GS, they should have been in a post season tournament, they were robbed.

I would have been really surprised to see them in the NIT. I doubt they received much consideration there. I would have thought they'd be in one of the smaller tournaments, though.

Are the other tourneys pay to play? Would GaSo just sit them out to save some $. Doubtful in this day and age, but had to ask.
Not that I care about GaSo but if them going to the NCAA and GaSt going to the NIT would have helped the SB revenue stream and a few dollars would be sent to App then GaSo can have the NCAA bid. Does the SB revenue share tourney money? Some conferences do and some do not. If what could have been and what did happen makes no difference to App then I am glad GaSo got nothing.

CBI is 50k to host a game (75k for semis and finals), CIT is 30k to host a game and it might have gone up.

SunBelt men taking three spots...
14 Georgia State (24-9)--NCAA (Obviously)--versus 3 Baylor (24-9) 1:40 PM Thurs. on TBS
UL-Monroe (21-12)--CBI--Hosting Eastern Michigan (21-13) 8:00 PM Wed. TV-TBD
UL-Lafayette (20-13)--CIT--at Incarnate Word (18-10) 8:00 PM Wed. TV-TBD
NIT--Oops!

50K would need 5,000 at $10 a ticket to break even and the reality that is not the only cost to having a game. They may have been invited but said to forget it.
The CIT would need 3,000 paying attendees.
Did GaSo have any game come close to that this year?
Though if they were willing to work to have the bowl game exemption waived and the implied willingness to lose a ton of money more than likely on a bowl game I would think losing a few tens of thousands would not stop them from accepting an offer for the basketball team.

Hanner's capacity is around 4500-4800. I'm sure they sold out GaState and maybe us. Don't think they would see those #'s in either of these tournaments.
