...to take the program to the next level. If only we (ASU) and the county could figure out another land swap/sale that would allow us to take over the old WHS, and finally drop that fast-becoming derelict of a facility. It really is the perfect spot, short of new flat land on central campus emerging, for a new olympic sports hub. That would allow so many "dreams" to come to fruition, first and foremost is first class and dedicated venues for the olympic programs, and secondly we could finally add that last 20+yds to Sofield and GET RID OF THE TRACK! :D

your preaching to the masses, that one piece of property could solve so many of our problems, atleast we have hope since we have property they want, the two sides need to sit down and get this deal done!!

The county missed the boat on their best deal once by over-valuing their own property...they need to realize that if ASU is making a legitimate proposal then this is the best deal left on the table. If they keep waiting for the golden ticket deal to come along then that property will be sitting idle for another 5 years, maybe longer.

So... what's wrong with the current softball stadium?

My intention is to not bash softball but how can it be a good thing to invest in a non-revenue sport to this extent? I would actually be disheartened if App built a softball field that elaborate. We just hired a money-making AD because we don't bring in a lot of money and spending millions on a state of the art softball field will help us how? What would be the difference in 20 years if App State played for the next 20 years in their current stadium vs. spending a boatload and a new one? I'd say nothing significant. Talk about a negative return on investment.

Take a FRACTION of the money you'd spend on a new softball stadium and get a video board for the Holmes Center. That way at least some people can see the money you're spending on athletics vs. a softball field where maybe a few hundred people attend during nice weather.

Why 20 yds more to Indoor PRACTICE facility. Do you want to play some of the games indoors? We are able to warmup for games only using 50 yds of the field.

If in a couple of years we can afford a top rate softball field and we can add 20 yds to the indoor football facility, that probably means our new AD is living up to his billing as a great fund raiser and the money is flowing in, hope it happens.

Extending the indoor facility to 100 yards, or it might have even been 110 yards, has been one of the most recently stated (and top) "wants" of the football staff.
