Looks like Matt is the front runner for the Murray State job:

Matt must be nervous. Situations where he is the obvious choice haven't been kind to him.

I'm assuming that Prohm would have a place on the bench for Matt at ISU, should the Murray HC job not be offered? If so, Matt will still be making a BIG step up, moving into a top assistants role at a P5 school that should open the season as a Top-10 team. Either way (and I think he is ready for the HC title) this is a big win for Matt if one of those two things happen.

Great news for Matt!

Too bad he had to wait 5 years longer than expected to get a HC job.

*This is not a slight on Fox as I'm very glad to have him.

Biggest mistake in the post Laney era was not hiring Matt as HC.

Good luck to him, glad to see him get a shot.

I'm glad we have Fox, but App did royally screw up not making Matt the head coach in 2010.

"Crying over spilled milk" will get us nowhere. Idiotic mistakes were made on multiple occasions that set our men's and women's basketball programs back (or further back, as the case may be). Some decisions (the hiring of D.Vincent) were made on good faith and the final outcomes could not have been foreseen by mere mortals. Other decisions were made under duress (the second hiring of Peterson and the subsequent hiring of Capel) and the outcomes in both cases were almost predetermined and relatively easy to forecast. Nonetheless, it's all water under the bridge. Gotta put it behind us and focus on the present and the future.

Coach Elderkin has her hands full to keep her player's heads above water until she can recruit better talent and more height. She's probably two years away from making a lot of noise around the Sunbelt.

Coach Fox, on the other hand, now has enough talent and size to turn the corner in the 'Belt. No championship in sight yet, but a winning season and some tourney noise in NOLA are both attainable goals.
