MISSOULA, Mont. —

Longtime sports broadcaster Brent Musburger, who grew up in Billings, will call the season-opening football game between Montana and four-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State in Missoula.

The FCS battle will be aired on ESPN starting at 1:30 p.m. on Aug.29 and marks the start of the football season as part of the network's second annual FCS Kickoff.

First-year Montana football coach Bob Stitt said Musburger called him Monday to let him know that he and color commentator Jesse Palmer will call the game.

Musburger has called seven BCS National Championship games, including the last five.

We saw Musberger in the Missoula Airport two years ago when we were waiting to board our flight home from our beat down out there.

Get your act together, Griz, and make the move up before the door gets slammed in your faces for all time. You're a few NCAA or P5 decisions away from being a 52 scholarship DII football program. You deserve far better! Do it!

The heck of it is, APP is a few decisions away from being sent back into the time warp, but with 85 scholarships in hand and no way to compete for a National Championship.

Are we in a better place, most definitely, but I'd like to hear the second tier of 85 scholarship conferences get a National Championship deal too.

Again the network(s)-Power Five (soon to be Four) money cartel dominates and controls everyone else.
