FBS vs FCS view
Strange how little I've checked into the FCS world. I've looked at Montana a couple of times, especially after the ND win, but up until today when I saw WCU taking down FU and Mercer beating our Loud Mouth Chatty friend, and learning that the Citadel is ruling the SOCON, I've not really followed FCS as much as I thought I would.

Yep, if Citadel beats Chatty this weekend they will have run the table in the SoCon this year. If they lose they will tie Chatty for the SoCon title with a loss to them, and Chatty will get the auto-bid. I anticipate the SoCon will get two teams in the playoff field, which I think is 24 teams this year. I have kept up with it from a distance, but have not watched much.

Re: FBS vs FCS view
I use to take part in FCS poll so I would research all of FCS and keep up week to week. But since moving up, I stopped all of that and now I'm keeping up with FBs, specifically the G5 level. I had no idea WCU beat Furman until someone posted it here.

It's funny though how much people are complaining about our potential bowl location this year and how they won't be attending. I am glad we moved up, but the bowl game is not even a big priority for a lot of fans. Just an interesting observation.

Re: FBS vs FCS view
I generally check out the SoCon scores on one of the websites since I can do that quickly while I am also following the Sun Belt scores. I do post on the CP board every now and then.
I have not visited the FCS websites like AGS in a good bit.

You are gauging this from message board posts. Let's hold off on "observations" until they occur.Seattleapp wrote:It's funny though how much people are complaining about our potential bowl location this year and how they won't be attending. Re: FBS vs FCS view
I havent heard hardly any complaining about going to a bowl. Everyone seems to be excited regardless where we go. Glad we moved up. Now that each game is important in the Bowl world, its like its a full season of playoffs.

So Citadel is running over the SoCon yet they got pounded by Georgia Southern. Shows how far the two of us have come in 2 years.

Re: FBS vs FCS view
I think we all knew Speir and company would win in Cullowhee but not counting his first two seasons of trying to repair the damage that Wagner did, WCU is 10-1 at home, has beaten Furman and Wofford back to back, and should finish co-2nd place in the SoCon two seasons in a row all while their booster club raised over 1 million this past fiscal year.
We absolutely owned them, but a small part of me is happy for them.

Mark got to be a good friend during his years helping with the football camps at App. A genuine, great guy. I'm am very happy for him and, yes, even WCU ... a little.

Re: FBS vs FCS view
now that we don't play Western anymore, got to pulled for the Cats and Speir. I check out how Montana is doing, and who is leading the SoCon, but that's about the extent of it. Oh wait, I sometimes go over to the JMU message board, get a kick reading about how their administration screwed them over about not joining the SBC.

Except lowly Wofford almost beat Idaho.JTApps1 wrote:So Citadel is running over the SoCon yet they got pounded by Georgia Southern. Shows how far the two of us have come in 2 years.

Re: FBS vs FCS view
Listen the same people that complain about location are the same ones that didn't go to home playoff games and we couldn't fill the stands. A bowl game, our first is a big deal and I can make the one on the 19th and am a possible for the 23rd.Saint3333 wrote:You are gauging this from message board posts. Don't look now, but Western Carolina is giving Texas A&M all they're worth on ESPNU. Down 21-14 with the ball in A&M territory and less than two minutes left in the first half.

Re: FBS vs FCS view
Unless they play us I would love for WCU to win every game. That rivalry is over for me and I wish them the best. For football that is partly due to the App connection of the coaches I think a little.
My new in-state "I hope they lose every game" is UNCC and to a little lesser extent ECU. Those two schools are our athletic peers now.

Mentioned several times that Speir was an assistant at App State during the championship run.
