The Stink...Classless, As Usual

Unread post by Appsolutely » Mon Dec 07, 2015 11:30 am

Arbuckle is the QB for Ga. St.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arbuckle’s play in the second half, in which he passed for 216 of his 346 yards, was partially the result of Georgia Southern’s student section. When Arbuckle came out at halftime to work out with the receivers, he said some people in the student section said something about his deceased mother.

“They said the wrong thing,” he said.

That’s when Arbuckle said he knew that he was going to play well in the second half.

That's awful. Most of us have been an intoxicated college student at a college football game before and I'm sure none of us could even imagine making a comment like that. Just disgusting.

My wife and I attended an APP game there in the early 2000s - just 2 people in their 50s minding our own business just going to see a football game - we were called every name in the book while we were still in traffic in the parking lot - it only got worse - there was a group (older than college students) who during the game were calling the APP cheerleaders sluts and much worse and making vulgar comments - they were yelling disgusting things at the player's parents/family - It was a totally disgusting day with the only highlight being my wife elbowing one of the drunk idiots as we were leaving and the idiot spilled his drink all over himself --- WE WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THE STINK !!! !!! !!!

"Stink" Admininstration should move their students to the home side and put some of their alumni/season ticket holders on the visitor side. I was at the App State Thursday night game last year and the GASO Students were taunting our team and throwing those cardboard eagle discs at our players and on the field. No Class.

In the not-so-distant past, either the SoCon or the NCAA (can't remember which) forced them to put a huge piece of plywood across the stands behind the visiting team bench because their students were acting like neanderthals. Some things never change.

So, do we hate the stink or just love/hate them? I am thinking the latter.

I have a Georgia Southern "friend" who sends me nasty texts before every App game. Last time I replied "Classy as usual" He replied that GS does not strive to be classy. What an understatement. I have had several run ins with their fans myself. They seem to take great pride in their rudeness to visiting fans. I even tried to pleasantly welcome a GS visiting fan to Boone once and got cursed out. They are the lowest of the low.

That was the NCAA in response to a fan situation at one of the I-AA play off games.

I was on the sideline there in mid 90 (95 maybe?) and they were throwing crap at us and cussing us out. Same in the parking lot. Yes it is not just students either. Those people suck. I would not go back to that low life slum for any reason in the world. I have no doubt this story is true.

I've been twice, and never had a problem. But I realize your mileage may vary.

I've enjoyed reading the SB board since Saturday. It's entertaining to see the conference's traditional doormat calling Southern on their whining and excuses.

I'm glad. I hate to see that happen to anyone. You have much better luck than me so you can have my seat down there :D

I have a good friend that played at the Stink when I was playing at App. He called me at my dorm, WAAAAAY before cellphones, and told me how awful their fans were during the games. I remember him telling me about when he saw one of his business professors throwing a drink at one of the Citadels players. "These cats are crazy man!" We went together to an App game years later at GaSo and he tried to get me to take off my App Shirt before going in. I didn't and got a half empty mason jar of moonshine. No, not handed to me, but thrown into the back of my head from about 10 feet away. Of course I, yes I, was the one thrown out when they pulled me off the guy, but my hospital bill was definately less than his.
