Or Go Saddy Bowl, your choice.
Ga Southern vs Bowling Green: are you pulling for the Sunbelt or against our bitter rivals?

Should be no question. Have to pull for the conference in ALL out of conference games.

I was thinking about this as well. I don't care if they lose but will not pull against them in this case. If they win, good for the Sun Belt, if they lose too bad so sad....

Normally I'm pulling for the conference OOC everytime ... however, being the ONLY FBS team to WIN a bowl game in their first year of eligibility has a nice ring to it!

I'll pull for them to win, and make fun of them if they don't.

I'm an App State fan, not a Sun Belt fan. We compete head to head with Southern for countless recruits, so any negative for them is a positive for us IMO.
With that said, some of the reaction I saw from BG fans when that matchup was announced was so arrogant and dismissive, part of me would enjoy seeing Southern knock them off.

While I agree with you EastHallApp, the Sunbelt is considered the weakest of all 10 FBS conferences. Going 1-3 in bowl games does nothing to help that perception. If the league could win it's two better games it helps...and in turn makes it (albeit slightly) easier for us to get ranked.
That said, I can not bring myself to root for Southern, the best I can ask for is a competitive close game...hopefully with BGSU narrowly edging out GSU.

This is easy, Georgia Southern all the way. Met many great GS fans in Boone this year who I hope have a big win. Plus, as others have said, a win for them and our conference helps strengthen us all.

APP has already secured their spot in history as the first team to win a bowl game in their first season of eligibility. Nothing the stink does tonight can change that. I am pulling for the Sun Belt to get another ooc win.

Got to pull for the BELT in this one. Would improve our Conference's national exposure. May also help with any future Bowl tie-ins!

Do you think Michigan fans were pulling for Ohio State last year because it looked good for the conference? I doubt it. Think Auburn fans are pulling for Bama because it helps the SEC? I also doubt it.
My hate for Georgia Southern is greater than my love for the Sun Belt, and my love for Appalachian State is the greatest. Can't pull for our rival. I was pulling for Ark State and Georgia State, but can bring myself to pull for our rival. If BG blows them out it looks bad for GS program, not our conference.
Hate aside, I also don't think GSU has a chance. BG running back will have at least 4 TDs.

Actually, yes. By in-large, the SEC is notorious for pulling for the conference, especially in Bowl games. Georgia fans pull for Florida, Miss St pulls for The Rebels. Listen closely in any of their games and you will hear the crowd chant "SEC, SEC, SEC." Its something the SEC figured out long ago - OOC wins help the strength of schedule for everyone in the conference.
Arguably, tonights game is the 'belts marquee bowl game simply for the fact the MAC champion is in it. It would be great it the #3 'belt team can pull it out. Interim coach vs. Interim coach. Winning games like this is the only way the SBC will "rise."

Of course UGA pulls for Florida, it makes their ass whooping not look as bad. App State does not need the success of others to look good. We do it on our own.

You can't be bitter rivals and cheer for each other in bowl games. Not how it works.

I can. I see the best outcome being a Sun Belt win, the worst being a stink loss. It's a win win scenario for me.

In all honesty, its going to have to take more than Sun Belt teams winning bowl games for us to "rise".
Like better scheduling and results from regular season OOC schedules. Many Sun Belt teams are forced to chase the money, so they schedule multiple games against P5 schools and lose by 40 plus. That labels us as the cup cake. We need to continue scheduling schools from G5 programs and win those games. That and keep P5 games somewhat close. That's how we get out of the basement status.

Stink has had a rough month- getting owned at home by Georgia State and watching their coach bolt. As for the NoDaddy Bowl- Maybe it plays out that they think they win, but Steve Harvey gives them the trophy.

We don't need to define our rivalry with The Stink by what we think defines other college football rivalries. I know how I feel about Georgia Southern without trying to immitate the SEC.
I'm pulling for The Stink tonight.
