Rough return for ETSU
The return of football at ETSU has gotten off to a rocky start. The Bucs were crushed 56-16 by Kennesaw St. last Thursday in the first game in 12 years for ETSU and the first game ever for KSU. Things didn't get any better last night as the Bucs lost 28-21 to DIII Maryville College.

Still playing in that aircraft hangar? That was a weird place. Some seats were so bad that you couldn't see plays down the sideline

They are playing their first two seasons at Science Hill High School's stadium while their outdoor stadium is being built. No more playing in the Mini Dump.bigdaddyg wrote:Still playing in that aircraft hangar? That was a weird place. Some seats were so bad that you couldn't see plays down the sideline

I doubt they'll be impatient. I'd hope after having no football for 12 years, just getting on the field this year is victory enough.

I thought I read somewhere, twitter maybe, that David Jackson called the game for ETSU, as a guest host/play by play guy.

You read correctly. It appears that DJ was in the ATL on a little family trip and received a call about an illness with the ETSU play-by-play man and David stepped up on short notice and filled in. Classy move as always by a classy guy. Even on short notice I bet he had the Buc fans hanging on his every word.sixtoes9134 wrote:I thought I read somewhere, twitter maybe, that David Jackson called the game for ETSU, as a guest host/play by play guy.

That dome was strange. Went to a game there around '85 or so. ETSU students gave us their tickets as they had no interest. We hit on a bomb and heard the other side of the building cheering. We had no idea until we saw our receiver run through the end zone. It was about impossible to make a drink with smuggled mini bottles as I felt like the few people in there could see me.

Kennesaw State played football last year and went 6-5 as a member of the Big South. Although some of the teams they played OOC I had never heard of.
