ECU and NY6

As much as it pains me to write this what is the thought on ECU for the NY6 Bowl? Beat NCSU and now they have the opportunity to beat (I know not very good) VT and USC. They don't play Houston but could in the AAC championship game. All Houston really has left is Cincinnati tonight- could be interesting in that it's at their place, at Navy and Louisville. Do we want ECU to win enough to get in that championship game and beat UH?
Figured we needed to take a break from the game talk this weekend.

Why would we want them to make the NY6?
Big long shot at this point anyway. USF the heavy favorite in that division.

I pretty much root against all other in-state schools. When they play each other it comes down to who I dislike the least. Call me a hater, but I don't want to share the spotlight with our peers.

Lets just see what happens between Cowpie College and ODU Saturday for the wizzing contest of who beat who by how many. ECU is 2-0 but there are losses looming on their schedule, probably 4 maybe 5 losses.

Calm down guy. They beat an NCSU squad that went 7-6 and 3-5 in the ACC. Their other win is WCU, nothing to write home about. Delete the thread.

Beating NC State this year will prove to be no biggie. Hell, ODU fans are thinking they have a shot. I will say that it must be nice to play P5 schools when they are down. Every time we play one, they are usually having their best season in years (LSU, UGA, UT, UM2.0, etc…).ECU has less than a .001% chance for NY6.

Let me see if I'm reading you right - do you mean, could they help us get to the NY6 by beating Houston for the AAC title?
Theoretically, sure. Needless to say a whole lot would have to break right for us for that to happen. After Saturday, at least we'll either be able to talk about the NY6 as a realistic goal or put it to bed for the year.

Houston is in a dog fight right now. May not need the help of EZU.

Yes, and they have many tough games yet to play. Loss tonight wouldn't kill them, though, as Cincy isn't in their division.

I'd say Boise State and SDSU are looking like potentially stronger candidates for the NY6 access bowl (which one is it this year?) if Houston manages to blow it somehow.

ECU to the NY6 is a very long shot. Houston is the odds-on favorite right now and after that, either Boise St or SDSU.
Houston has a slim chance of making the CFB Playoff if they go 13-0. Not sure if the Cotton Bowl would take a second G5 team in that case.

Houston crossed a hurdle last night that might have tripped up their playoff plans but they stayed in that picture. For us to have any shot Houston probably needs to make the playoff. At any rate there is way too much that has to happen. This was just a topic for the what if thing. No biggie. Nobody needs to get their panties in a wad. Oh yeah Miami is tomorrow. Go Apps beat them Canes.

Perhaps I need to say this AGAIN. I am not saying that under any scenario that ECU makes the NY6 game. I don't want ECU in any form or fashion to make it to that game. The point was IF they knock off the next two opponents perhaps they might be good enough to help us. Houston appears to be legit and there aren't that many opportunities for them to lose. Again this was just for a "what if" discussion. I don't want ECU to play in the NY6 game. I humbly apologize for the misunderstanding. Go Apps!

The answer is now a resounding no after ECU loses to a bad South Carolina team today.

LSU and Georgia had below-average seasons for them when we played them. Michigan the second time had one of their worst seasons in years. UT and Miami this year TBD.

ECU getting put back in their place to a mediocre VT team

Maybe the NY6 in the subject line meant "Can ECU win six games before New Year's?"
