Sun Belt Loses One Bowl Game - Austin Bowl Withdrawn
Well...scratch the new bowl game in Austin as a Sun Belt tie-in. The organizers have pulled the game from consideration for NCAA certification, leaving the Sun Belt with 4 tie-ins this coming season, with the addition of the now certified Cure Bowl in Orlando. It sounds as if the organizers in Austin are going to take a few months, step back, and see where to go from here, and maybe attempt to move forward in the 2016 season. Either way, this means one less possible destination for our Mountaineers and increased competition for a bowl slot.

Bad news for the league in general, obviously, but this never seemed like a likely destination for App. More likely it's Texas State who'll be left sweating out a bid.
Hopefully they get up and running for 2016.

This opens the door back for the Little Rock Bowl again if they can find sponsorship. It appears the market may be maxed out as both bowls had trouble getting funding/TV coverage.

Ah, that's right. The top G5 team goes to the Peach Bowl this year.ASUMountaineer wrote:You misspelled "Atlanta."luvyosef wrote:Meh, App's going to Mobile anyway. Go Apps!

Speaking of Mobile, the GoDaddy Bowl has been set for Wednesday, Dec. 23. That's a change from previous years, when it's been played after New Year's.

I wish there were 1/3 less bowl games and the .500+/- teams disappear from the bowl picture. The market is over saturated and due for a makeover.

C-USA has 7 tie-ins this year for 12 teams, if the Arizona Bowl actually happens. I'd say there's a chance one of those gets left open for a Sun Belt team.
