Marshall’s rise has been impressive. They were terrible .
They’re 33-20 after they started 0-5. They’ve got some big wins too. Pitching still can win games.

Didn’t think cold weather/northern teams had it in them. Impressive they’re battling with Coastal/USM and LaLa.

Great season so far but let's not crown them quite yet. 3 winning season in 10 years (same as APP). A bunch are going into the TP. Let's see what happens next year before we get all giddy about a cold weather team being successful. Needs to be consistent and not every once in a while.

Northeastern (Boston) 27 wins in a row. Never seen that before at any level. Maybe the Moneyball Athletics.
Hope they sneak up on somebody in the tourney.

This isn’t Sun Belt related, but Mid major related…and it’s probably happened a couple times in the SBC too.
Northeastern probably should be hosting a regional, but does not have the infrastructure or size stadium to host a regional. They didn’t submit a bid to host due to this fact.

With that in mind, would App even be able to host a regional if we were a top 16 seed? (I know, we haven’t been to the tourney in 12 years, this is a dumb question). What is the criteria to be able to host a regional in terms of stadium and infrastructure?

I would think they would try and use the Hickory Crawdads stadium to their advantage but not sure it would work with the schedule until you're closer to time, since they are in-season as well. I believe even Duke doesn't meet the requirements to host either. Their stadium is a complete dump. Field's fine but infrastructure is terrible (very old and outdated).

Looks to be a couple hundred people for the SBC Championship. These are potentially 2 super regional teams. The best 2 teams both on 17, 18 game win streaks and only 300 people showed up.
And USM is a short drive away from Montgomery.
This game doesn’t really matter though, both should be hosting a regional. Fans saving money I guess.

SBC has to move this tournament to a better city with more to do.

No, we wouldn't be allowed to host a regional, we would have to be a #1 seed that plays on the road. It happened to ODU 3 years ago I believe. They were the #1 seed, but had to play at South Carolina. That is why they didn't have a home field this year, they are remodeling so they can host in the future.

And where in the heck does Old Dominion get enough money to renovate their baseball stadium? I get Marshall and money, I know some of the funds behind that facility and it’s backed by some big time donors.

We are probably one of the few SBC’s that couldn’t host. Ark State has a pretty crappy field, JMU? Feel like everyone else could host.

We would host in Hickory , if it is available , I believe. But we are a long way , if ever , from it. I pretty much hate CCU btw.

Im glad they showed the Sunbelt the respect that was earned and gave us two regional hosts. Both were deserved.

Is it possible as of right now - as a whole that CCU has an overall better athletic department than APP?

I’m not certain. The gap isn’t what it used to be if not. We’ve certainly slipped.

Committee certainly didn't do any favors for CCU and SoMiss.

Help me out here. If I'm reading this wrong let me know. Shocker - NCAA is more worried about the 50,000 dollar minimum guarantee required to host regionals. Facilities /Attendance/Geo location are 2nd. That's why a lot of these teams won't host.

Baseball America listed the top 8 hosts as underdogs as hosts, and both Coastal and So Miss were on the list.
