I believe they are something like 2-28 their last 30 games. I expect us to win this game, and the GS game is going to be huge for both programs.
I wouldn't chalk up USM as a guaranteed win, especially since it's on the road. They just went down and scored at Alabama on their first series. Not even Liberty is guaranteed. They were beating UNC late in the 3rd. Campbell was the only guaranteed win on the schedule. Like you said we just don't know much yet.

never guaranteed the SM game, but when Alcorn St takes them to the wire, and you see how they have been playing, and we had an extra week to prepare, .... I like our chances.

I think our game next week on the road at Southern Miss will be much tougher than most expect. Southern Miss will turn their program around soon. Their game against Alabama is about to get out of hand but USM has been respectable - including 3 scores. App State will improve as the year goes on but we are an unknown right now and thus, hard to predict. One game at a time. My focus is on Southern Miss.

I wouldn't mind them all being tough. 60 minutes of competition week in and week out will make our kids tougher for 2015.

Georgia southern is an FBS team. As much potential as I think we have, there is something very amateurish about our play. Maybe it's the fact they have a coach who is a proven winner and probably more ready to coach at the FBS level. All I'm saying is that I would not be surprised to see us get beat by them by 2-3 touchdowns.

I hope not, I just have a feeling.

wow, that's harsh, again I disagree, not ready quite yet to put GS in the playoffs and to compete for a national championship, and certainly not ready to concede that they are going to kick our asses all up and down the field. You do understand this is pretty much the same team we kicked last year 38-6, and this is the same program we have owned the last 7 years. Yes, they will be favored in this game, but almost like every game in the last 10 years, it probably will be a close game late into the 4th.

I have to disagree with you on them being more FBS ready. They are as ready as we are. As for their coach being FBS ready, I don't know. GS has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory not once, but twice. Yes they were against two P5 schools but neither should be relevant within their own conferences. As for our team, we haven't played anyone that can give us a gauge on where we are. We should begin to see our lot in the next 12 days.

The Eagles have proven they can move he ball and score on ACC opponents, no problem. Now they need to learn how to finish games. Maybe a depth issue.

GaSo has played well but they certainly looked like the better team last year until they showed up at The Rock too. Lots of football left to play and 2 moral victories for GaSo don't mean that much in the grand scheme of things. App is so young, I would expect big improvements during the season, much like last year.

Also, don't expect the USM game to be a cakewalk. They get us at home and consider us one of the few possible wins on their schedule too...and they played Bama tough for a half.

Take em one at a time and Go Apps!

We've been the underdogs in our last two match ups with Georgia Southern and won both games. Throw the records out the door and let's go.

I have a feeling that I disagree with everything you said. The facts and history do not support your claims.

I hope I am wrong, all I said is "I have a feeling". I would love nothing more than to eat crow; they have just looked very strong from what I have seen.

I will say we probably have more upside than anyone in our conference IMO. This season will be up and down but I won't stop supporting.

Did I miss something from somebody? Who on this board has said USM was going to be a "cakewalk"? I have seen several people post the notion that numerous App fans seem to think we are going to walk into Hattiesburg and smoke USM or it will somehow be an easy game. I associate cakewalk with a Campbell type opponent rather than "we have a good chance" of winning the game. Can you pull up that quote for me where people made that type of statement? I think you may be misinterpreting some of these posters.

I don't think it far fetched for someone to observe that Ga Southern has looked better than we have to this point. In large measure that is because we haven't been in a competitive game yet. One is deceiving oneself if they weren't impressed with their offensive effort yesterday. That doesn't mean that on Sept 25 we won't be the better team but to this point they have looked more impressive than we have. I'm hopeful we'll get to see Saturday what we look like against an FBS peer.

Their offense is rolling but their defense is not there yet. They can't depend on out scoring everyone.

Obviously it hasn't worked for them yet.

I would rather have ULM's team than GS at this point. If ULM can put 14 points on the board then I like my chances of winning. Their defense is pretty impressive.

Liberty gave up 392 rushing yards and 31 points to BREVARD COLLEGE. We ran very well against Michigan. Cox and Upshaw might set a new school single game rushing record in this one.
Appalachian State, Better than your school since 1899!!!!
