I agree. The desperation on this board boarders on embarrassing. If the SB can't get their crap together then so be it. We will find a home eventually. The earth is not going to open up and swallow all the poor suckers left in the FCS anytime soon. It is a given that we will make a move. We need to stop acting as if we are deperate to be recognized.ASU-FTW wrote:Alright, ban BooneTown. Let's have a poll and vote him off - Survivor style!
Seriously, can we at least lock this thread? I don't care what people think they know. We don't need threads making false claims, it just looks stupid. Wait until it is official before threads like these are made.

After this past weekend one thing is for certain, we need to keep our options open. We definately don't need to be held hostage by the SB.

ECU looks like they'll be all sports in the new Big East but that rule is why they were looking for a place to house their other sports, the NCAA would not have permitted them to stay in C-USA.
My primary objection to the Sun Belt from the start has been the travel costs and demands it presents. The CAA is no different and maybe just as bad. BTW, is Maine still in the CAA? Too busy to look it up.

CAA basketball 2014:
Northeastern
Hofstra
Drexel
Towson
Delaware
George Mason
JMU
W&M
UNCW
CofC
Mason and Drexel are A10 expansion candidates. If the Sun Belt adds NMSU they will be a stronger basketball conference compared to what will be left of the CAA.

That's the funny thing, App has a better academic profile than any of the SB schools, and I'd wager our athletics are on par as well. And we still can't get that clusterf*ck of a conference to figure things out. Yet every few days we have peeps salivating like Pavlov's dog at every mention of a possible invite.appbio91 wrote:I agree. The desperation on this board boarders on embarrassing. I'm so disappointed that BooneTown wasn't correct. I thought for sure that a CCU fan with 3 posts had the skinny. I mean, it makes total sense for the SBC and App State to announce on the day of both conference's basketball championship games.RankinApp wrote:That's the funny thing, App has a better academic profile than any of the SB schools, and I'd wager our athletics are on par as well. Wait..I thought the invites were coming as soon as Georgia Southern was eliminated from the FCS playoffs?! Done deal and all that.ASUMountaineer wrote:I mean, it makes total sense for the SBC and App State to announce on the day of both conference's basketball championship games.

I don't know the guy, but I have a gut feeling he knows more than the average fan. I think there was a deal in place and then somebody threw a turd in the punchbowl and everything unraveled. Could be wishful thinking on his part. Anything to give Coastal a shot at getting out of the "Big" South.

Maybe, but adding a simple caveat would have prevented an onslaught of criticism.appst89 wrote:I don't know the guy, but I have a gut feeling he knows more than the average fan. I'm just sick of reading the "done deal" posts because none of them have been accurate. Besides, a Monday announcement never made any sense. There was a real possibility that both our men's and women's basketball teams would be playing on Monday. Why steal their thunder?

Re: App State to the Sun Belt
I have never thought the Sun Belt would add schools until April at the earliest and more likely May.
Why would they, the teams that are on the top of their list don't have other offers.
Programs like App and GSU are going to have to wait until Tulsa moves and if WKU (or other Belt members leave).
Announcing now vs. May don't impact either party in the grand scheme.

It's a DONE DEAL. You all know it. You all read it. And we ALL know the internet is never wrong. Let's just show up and start playing. The invite must have just got lost in the mail. USPS is cutting back after all.
I missed my meeting last night. Wish I could have made it. Those meetings and much liquid medication really helps a tired Mountaineer playing the Bachelor's Dating Game. Dang you Karl Benson, where is our Rose? Got to make it to the next meeting though. The Yosef 's Cabin Anonymous Association (YCAA) can get us all much needed help. We just need to get more people on board. Maybe the Village People could come out of retirement and do a YCAA song instead of YMCA. Dibs on the Y.

Oh, I have to. Cannot make it through the day without checking on Yosef's Cabin. Get the shakes when I don't. More addictive than alcohol or smoking. Dang. Why didn't I go to some school where I wouldn't care about how their sports teams do, like unc at Harrisburg.Dmanuhone wrote:Keep coming back!

Re: App State to the Sun Belt
Here is my opinion. The deal was not "in place". It may have been proposed, and it may have been verbaly agreed to but if it was in place it would still be in place. Ask any guy on here who is in sales. Nothing is in place without a signature on the line.ASUMountaineer wrote:Maybe, but adding a simple caveat would have prevented an onslaught of criticism.appst89 wrote:I don't know the guy, but I have a gut feeling he knows more than the average fan. I prefer to think of my relation to this board as Mr. Burns did in the Simpsons episode when he was in an Opium Den.appgrunt71 wrote:From optimism to pessimism to disillusionment, all less than 72 hours. I'm with you, it is pretty pathetic. Two years ago NOBODY wanted the SBC and now it's all the rage. I think it sucks but that is where we are going. Whatever the song and dance may be to get us there but a Sun Belt we are a going.
It's just so ironic that one the absolute best attributes of ASU, that being geographic location, is now our Achille's heel in this scrum. Conversely UNCC has absolutely nothing going for it in this football grab for glory other than location.
