Basically as it stands now the only way a G5 school gets into the 4 team playoff is to:
Preventively schedule 3-4 P5’s way in advance and hope that they are good when the time comes.
Beat all of them
Convincingly
Win every conference game
Convincingly
Hope that the conference is still perceived to be strong but that element goes out the window because you stomped them all
Hope that Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, etc lose 2 games each but they will still be considered elite even 10,20, 30 years down the road.
The moon and the stars all line up
ESPN signs off on
The G5 proves that they can bring 30,000 fans to Florida, New Orleans, Pasadena or Arizona.
