Anybody know what's up with Rick Beasley? He still has a profile page listing him as Senior Associate Athletics Director -- Development
http://www.georgiastatesports.com/ViewA ... =211027087
but, the AD staff directory lists his position as "TBA"

Maybe he can lead the charge to rename their streets and do away with all the "6th Street Avenue SW" and "4th Drive Blvd NE" BS they have going on down there.

There's no 6th St Ave SW. Streets run north & south and avenues run east & west. What messes up a perfectly good system is street names with no grid reference.

There is nothing good - let alone perfect - about the street system in Hickory.

Their quadrant grid system is theoretically perfect, and as good as any based on the model. It requires knowledge of quadrant grid methodology, but minimal local knowledge. Local knowledge sucks compared to an understanding of a grid system.

And yet no one - including lifelong residents - knows how to navigate via street address.

There is one good thing: it’s not Charlotte.

Hickory is 3 grids smashed together. If you don't know the city, from LR,you can land up in St.Stephens or on Tate Blvd. instead of 127 in Viewmont. If you get lost, just head for the Olde Hickory tap room on Union square and get a bbq sandwich & a brew.

Hickory versus Charlotte, I assume you are complaining about the street names the change and not the city itself.

It was a nice small city until the furniture industry bellied up. It was once deemed an All American City.

I'm born and raised in Hickory. It has kind of settled back into being a sleepy town again since the furniture industry went away. Downtown is isolated from major highways (321, 40, and 70). It tried to become a technology hub but that never really took off in a big way. If downtown was along a major corridor it might be different.
