2-2 as interim coach after destroying South Alabama and winning at Louisiana, plus restoring the option and gaining nearly 400 rushing yards each game, Satterfield's former basement tenant is the Georgia Southern head coach.

So that makes four HC in the Sun Belt with ties to App.

Nice of that dude to write GS' press release for them.
That is an... interesting hire. I wondered if he might get some support after those two wins. I'm generally not a fan of hiring the interim coach, but I guess you can always point to the Dabo example.
Also kind of feels like GS didn't want to go through another search getting turned down by people and was just ready to be done with it.

Wonder if they got him at a discount since they’ll be paying two coaches a while

If true, it's a good hire for the stink.

I think the guy Ole Miss just hired was the interim as well.

For those who don't want to dig into it and find his connection to App State, he was a tight ends coach for us in '01 and '02.

Does anyone know if this is a 10 day contract that is on auto-renew at the end of that 10 day period or is this a month to month contract? Asking for friend....

Good for him! I’m sure there are plenty of performance dollars built in on top of that

Dang, with his background I would have thought that he would be $500k or under.....

Queue the need to increase our own HC's salary (whomever it may be).

And he knows several of our staff members very well. He was on the GaSo staff with Sloan from 2003-05.
Lunsford would absolutely give Sloan a call about a job.

GS fans on the Sun Belt board are saying that Sloan may very well end up as the DC at GS. If this rumor is true, big loss for App.

Good for them. Lunsford's attitude is definitely where it needs to be and seems to be loyal to the school. Hopefully they go down to Conway and destroy CCU and use that as momentum going into the off-season.
As much as they're our rival, we need Georgia Southern to be a strong G5 school.

Isn’t Sloan technically already Co-D Coordinator? I get the difference, though.

I'm not following why Sloan would leave for that dumpster fire of administration at the Stink. I don't know the full details of Lunsford's contract but if they were only going year to year with Fritz (even after a conference title) I doubt the DC position has very little job security in comparison to what he has now with Satt.
Who knows, maybe that isn't important to Sloan in the end.

Sloan has Co-DC as a part of his title. I'm guessing he would see a nice bump in pay if he becomes the DC for GS. My biggest worry is that if he takes the job, some of our verbals may flip. Hopefully Sloan won't try and sway App verbals over to GS after App has invested the resources to recruit them to the mountain.

Sounds like CL is getting 4 years at $650k per year. The Eagles must have had some boosters step up to increase the head coach's pay plus have enough to put together a solid staff. As for Sloan leaving, he's been on the GS staff before so it's not unfamiliar territory to him and his family. Plus, he'd become the DC (and recruiting coordinator) that would likely come with a healthy pay raise. His recruiting ties to GA would be a tremendous boost for GS too.

No doubt if Sloan goes we may lose some recruits but I don't think he will poach anyone who has committed to us at this point. If we lose them its because they wanted to go where he was going not because he encouraged them.

If CL is going to re-install the TO then the recruits that Sloan could get out of Georgia shouldn’t really hurt us would they? The reason why we are so successful in Georgia is that two of the three biggest in state programs run gimmick offenses. I would think Elliot is a bigger issue for us in the state of Gawga than Sloan would be.
