82-33 record in the last 3 seasons, NIT quarterfinals. AD cleaned house today.
You would think with a firing like this, there would be some kind of naughtiness coming forth, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
"We thank Coach Cross and his staff for their service to the University and for developing a men’s basketball program that operates with honor and integrity," said Baker. "In order to align the program’s direction with the University’s objectives, I believe new leadership and energy surrounding the program is needed. We will begin a national search immediately."

Yeah, 27 wins per season average is pretty weak. Should have fired him last year.

Such a terrible coach.

Obviously different schools have different goals. Certainly seems pretty harsh. Of course, they were pre-season odds on favorites with a senior laden squad. I would guess they are in a serious rebuild mold.

As I said in another thread, this school and coach obviously had very specific metrics on what it would take to stay or be shown the door.

Great article that goes into more detail...apparently the AD wants to hand pick the next coach and AD and Coach Cross had a tumultuous relationship since the summer of 2016 and it gets juicier from there...

Finishing a close second in the race for the biggest post-season surprise in the Sun Belt is Texas State for
NOT firing Danny Kaspar. At least not yet. Kaspar just closed out his five-year contract heading a team that finished the season in an ugly 1-10 slide. How the guy still has a job in San Marcos is amazing to me. Kaspar's teams regularly played ugly basketball and more recently ugly, bad basketball. The Bobcat brain-trust must know something that the basketball world doesn't know about Kaspar's '18-'19 team. Wow!
