Re: Big Early SBC Week
Will be interesting to see if Troy/Ark St improve with a lot of backups playing due to injury.
And will GS get their QB back and look more like everyone expected?

Re: Big Early SBC Week
No pull for Troy since App plays them during the regular season. UL v GS is a toss up since App plays both this season.
Not that it actually has any bearing on how the games play out and as difficult as it may be at times, from a football IQ standpoint, fans should always pull for the teams on the schedule. Yes even UNC(-C) and GS. The more games opponents win (SOS), the better App looks after a W. This is especially true if they can run the table and take aim at the NY6.

Re: Big Early SBC Week
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Troy has two conference losses and we only have one conference loss, even if it's against Troy, then we still win the SBC East and advance to the SBC championship game. So, I'm pulling for Ark State.moonshine wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 10:59 amNo pull for Troy since App plays them during the regular season. UL v GS is a toss up since App plays both this season.

Re: Big Early SBC Week
For me personally when it comes to mixed division (ie SBC East vs. SBC West) games I will always pull against the team in our division. I'm not ever overly concerned with what our conference mates do; but I do enjoy any cushion we can get in the standings.moonshine wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 10:59 amNo pull for Troy since App plays them during the regular season. Re: Big Early SBC Week
I hear ya, and the thing is we obviously don't have any impact on how those games turn out anyway, but it's fun to calculate what it does for our chances. I really want to host the SBC championship game, I want that game to become a de facto "Boone Bowl."NavyApp wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 11:26 amAppears we we're typing at the same time! Re: Big Early SBC Week
My scenario would also require that the other members of the SBC East have at least two conference losses as well.Rick83 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 11:22 amCorrect me if I'm wrong, but if Troy has two conference losses and we only have one conference loss, even if it's against Troy, then we still win the SBC East and advance to the SBC championship game. Re: Big Early SBC Week
I'll never complain about getting a little cushion but at the end of the day, if App takes care of business, what happens in the other games doesn't matter. If we need the cushion, I'm already disappointed somewhere.

Re: Big Early SBC Week
I completely agree, rarely scoreboard watch. But I do like to hedge my bets lol. I look at it this way; our wins coupled with division mates loses equals a double win for us!

Besides GS I'd say they are the most 'hated' conf foe.

Re: Big Early SBC Week
I agree totally, but teams can always be upset as we've seen the last two years with losses to Ga Southern, UL-Monroe, and (gulp) Umass. Injuries and bad refereeing contributed to those losses but they were losses nonetheless. I'll take any cushion we can get. Every team, even in the SBC has great athletes who can make plays and are fighting hard to win games. Hopefully we'll stay healthy and just take care of business each week...and leave no doubt!

Re: Big Early SBC Week
Agree. I have sympathy for Anderson obviously, due to his wife passing, but have never cared for his coaching style and their fans' attitude towards us. I understand it, as they used to be the top dog in the SBC until we showed up, but I don't care for them.

Re: Big Early SBC Week
It is their fans that mostly have caused the dislike. Jalin's last play being there probably doesn't help.

Re: Big Early SBC Week
1) stAte fans were unbearably annoying the 1st years we got into the SB. By far most annoying of all other SB fan bases, even GS. I've enjoyed them being more quite recently with our dominance, prefer it that way, so therefore I always try to pull against them.
2) As of right now, we're still in play for the NY6 Bowl. For that to happen, other than being undefeated, we need the teams on our schedule to win. Arky state is the 1 team that isn't from the SB, so them winning does not help us at all.(Unless they are who we play in the SB Championship, which would be nice to beat them).
3) I try to not worry about other teams in our division to lose (other than GS of course) until we need them to lose to help our own cause of making championship game.
So therefor ... Go Troy!
Oh, and go Cajuns!

Re: Big Early SBC Week
I hear ya, but the reality is for us, it's more important for SBC East teams losing conference games than SBC West teams losing. We must win the SBC East first, then win the SBC championship game to even qualify for NY6 consideration. Not that we have any kind of impact on the outcomes of these games.CoachRob wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 1:58 pm1) stAte fans were unbearably annoying the 1st years we got into the SB.
