It's truly awful! Your tag line says 'Graphic Designer'. I bet you could come up with better in less than 24 hours!

This is an answer to a question that wasn't asked.

I love how the top half or bottom half of the logo gets lost in two out of three iterations.

Re: Sun Belt Conference Unveils New Logo
Personally I don't hate it. The old one wasn't great. Now if this new logo would couple with a commissioner that will openly stump for the conference and the elite teams in the conference that would be great!

Re: Sun Belt Conference Unveils New Logo
I don't hate it but I actually liked the "old" one better. Looks like they are really pushing the branding as "SBC" vs the full Sun Belt name. When I saw this talked about on the SunBelt board (when it was put on USA's new turf), I couldn't picture it looking great with our colors. I like the black background with the two color SBC best, but that's just me. It's hard to argue that this is in that category of fixing what isn't broken.

Is it just me or does it look like "666" when you stand back from it?

OK, purely for the sake of discussion, (yes, I am a little bored) if you like the old one better how can you also feel this wasn't fixing what wasn't broken? I like the new logo better, but I don't think this type of enhanced branding will pay us or any other members anything in the way of tangible benefits.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 2:35 pmI don't hate it but I actually liked the "old" one better. Re: Sun Belt Conference Unveils New Logo
Not sure why the conference felt the need to rebrand as the pinwheel was only about 5 years old. Of the options shown for App, I’d go with the all black lettering on the black or white background as it closely resembles our brand with the black block A.
If the conference can get ESPN to buy in on the SBC moniker and update their website to reflect the change, that puts us right above the SEC in the drop downs. Maybe the confusion will lead more fans/recruits to accidentally check out the Sun Belt.

Re: Sun Belt Conference Unveils New Logo
To answer you question, I used the term "fixing" because that is the common saying. It implies a nonsensical change. I would say "changing what didn't need fixing" but that is re-writing the anecdote.CVAPP wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 3:37 pmOK, purely for the sake of discussion, (yes, I am a little bored) if you like the old one better how can you also feel this wasn't fixing what wasn't broken? Re: Sun Belt Conference Unveils New Logo
On the other hand, all of the top 10 conferences have gone to a relatively minimalist design when it comes to their conference logo, so the Sun Belt might have just been following suit.CVAPP wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 3:37 pmOK, purely for the sake of discussion, (yes, I am a little bored) if you like the old one better how can you also feel this wasn't fixing what wasn't broken? New comish needs know window dressing won't solve the existing or future challenges at his level. He may not have the leadership qualities the conference needs.

Re: Sun Belt Conference Unveils New Logo
The previous logo was good I think, I liked it. This logo is not bad and will grow on me and it is likely this was started well before Covid-19 started but even in the best of times why spend money on a logo design that is at best a lateral move in quality and such.
On top of the conference costs, which is money that could go back to the schools in other ways, the schools will be spending more money to update the fields and courts as I am sure.
Not a bad logo here but not an improvement over one I thoght was good.
