Some of the Georgia Southern fans on the CSNbbs Sun Belt board have reminded me why I hate them so much: arrogance. They really don't know when to shut up and be humble. Most of them believe that they will go into the conference and rule it after the first down. I'm glad we might have helped each other to get to the SBC, but I'm back to hating them again. I can't wait for some of the other SBC teams to knock them down a few pegs.

I just began arguing with a few. They are completely delusional.

From some of the things I've been reading on here and other sites since we were accepted one could say the same for many of our fans. I would say there is some arrogance from both sides because of their high achievement at the lower division/d1aa/fcs/whatever. Neither side has played a down of sunbelt ball but there a some on both sides that are already crowning themselves the best. While I applaud their faith in their schools I'll wait until December and see the rankings before I start thinking about us or them being anywhere close to top dogs in the sunbelt.

I think App will be competitive in the Sun Belt but by no means do i believe we will run the table. I will save the smack talk for when we actually win something.

normally I agree that we have just as many delusional and arrogant fans as GS, but in this case, I got to agree that the GS fans have maybe gone alittle over the top since joining the SBC. They are becoming a real pain in the ass on the SBC board, one GS fan actually post a new topic, whether or not GS should take down all their championship bannors from the FCS, since they have moved up. It was obvious he was just trying to bragg on the number of FCS championships they have.

App may have a few arrogant fans that make us look bad, but most of the SBC members actually like App State and our fan base. The same cannot be said for Georgia Southern. The overwhelming arrogance and immaturity has pissed most of them off to where they all just want to kill the Eagles in everything they do. Looks like the Sun Belt has found its new most hated team.

I've seen nothing from App fans on CSNBBS that even remotely compares to the arrogance and unfounded optimism being displayed by several Stink fans. We've certainly shown our asses here and there on the internet over the past decade, but over all, our presence on CSNBBS has been incredibly humble. Stink fans are making us look VERY classy by comparison.

Of course the majority of their fans are cordial and realistic, as with most fan bases.

I get a chuckle when I enter Elon's Rhodes Stadium and see Elon's NAIA National Championship banners, especially since they don't mention NAIA on them.

Im really happy how the App fans have conducted themselves compared to GS fans. I think part of it is, App fans, while happy to move up, are not "jumping for joy" at joining the SBC. On the other hand, GS fans could not be happer, this is their dream conferance, kinda like if we got the call to the ACC, they are soo happy they just do not know how to conduct themselves, so unfortuantely, they have taken the attitude of trying to conveince the other members of the SBC that they belong and that they are going to dominate the SBC in the near future. In just a short month they have already gotten on the nerves of the other fans. Kinda amazing, they are still over a year away from competing in the SBC and they are already making enemies, cant imagine what they are going to be like once they start conference play.

I just reminded them of this little tidbit I keep tucked away in my favorites....

I-AA Football Committee issues reprimand to Georgia Southern

The NCAA Division I-AA Football Committee has publicly reprimanded Georgia Southern University for inappropriate behavior exhibited by its fans at the Division I-AA quarterfinal and semifinal playoff games hosted by the school in December 1999.

In addition, the committee reviewed the crowd-control policies that Georgia Southern developed and will implement beginning with the 2000 football season. The committee will not permit Georgia Southern the privilege of hosting future playoff games if the behavior of its fans attending the university's football games does not conform to the Association's crowd-control policies.

"The committee is very concerned about crowd control issues that occurred during the 1999 playoff games and conducted a thorough review of reports of unsportsmanlike conduct. The behavior of some fans detracted from the accomplishments of the Georgia Southern football team," said John Johnson, athletics director at Weber State University and chair of the Division I-AA Football Committee. "It is a privilege for any school to host a playoff game. Good sportsmanship is a standard that any university should continually uphold as a condition for hosting a playoff game. This is a standard we would apply to any university.

"We commend the university for the policies and procedures it has developed. We'll review the behavior of fans at future contests before determining if Georgia Southern or any other university is permitted to host future playoff games."

In addition, speaking of dominance: In our (as in ASU - a future Sun Belt Conference member) series with Ga So we have a 2 game lead. Thus, I don't really see where they should be so "cocky" when they can't even dominate us.
