With JMU joining today I had to watch this. Still get chills.

And we can get that 1937 season off our backs as well with Southern Miss.

I admit it feels right to have a regional annoying purple team in the league again.

The only home game I missed during my time at App. I remember listening to this on the radio in my parents garage (were having thanksgiving dinner that day with relatives) and wishing I was at the game. I still watch this from time to time before the season starts.

I love that end zone. Miracle on the Mountain and this both happened on this side of the field. And both against purple teams.

Well technically Miracle on the Mountain happened in both end zones. The INT was in the scoreboard side endzone and the return was to the field house side endzone.
Ingle Martin slipping was in the scoreboard side endzone, which DJ affectionately named "Bobby's Corner" until Bobby's kid was our starting QB for 4 years.

No offense to Witten, because he is a great broadcaster with many good years in front of him.
But to some of us old farts, David Jackson will
ALWAYS be the voice of the Mountaineers.

David was and Adam is. Adam learned from David and I’m sure DJ is very proud of the work Adam is doing.

DJ does have a certain voice that means App State and part of this is because he did football, men's basketball, and baseball. That amount of work is also why he now runs the Boone Chamber of Commerce and was calling ETSU and NCA&T two years ago before coming home for a few ESPN+ broadcasts for App football.

App has a long tradition of fine sports broadcasters. IIRC,
DJ is also a NC Sports Hall of Fame Broadcaster. Some of us even older farts remember a N.C. Sports Hall of Fame broadcaster,
Charlie Harville. He was widely regarded as the best in the business in the 60s, 70s and into the 80s. And there were others...like
Brian Estridge, who left App for TCU. He's still the voice of the Horned Frogs...and
Don Munson who got his start at WASU...eventually moved over to the stadium press box to become the voice of the Apps and now is the voice of the Clemson Tigers.

Good post, 66. There is a marker at the side of Asheboro Country Club Club House which honors Charlie Harvell. He was a humble down to earth guy on the radio for App. Everybody liked Charlie.
'66, did Bob White ever do football broadcasts or just hoop ball?
