1. GSU - rivalry, need a trophy to play for
2. Texas St. - family friends live in the area, nice area
3. ULL - I can tell I'm going to enjoy beating them based on their fans reaction (annoying like Elon)
4. stAte - good program, I can see us forming mutual respect for each ASU (Wofford)
5. Troy - two great games in 2001, good program (Furman)
6. USA - replaces Citadel on the schedule for a long beach weekend around a football game
7. GA St. - drivable from Charlotte (WCU)
8. NMSU - need an excuse to see NM
9. Idaho - same
10. ULM - better program than half on this list, but bad location and nothing really stands out ( Samford)

1. GSU - original
2. Troy
3. GSU-A
4. AR St
5. ULL
6. ULM
7. TX St
8. USA
9. UNM
10. Idaho
To be perfectly honest, 4-10 are interchangeable. I'm sure rivalries will develop over time just like in the SoCon but, at this point, they're all the same.

I agree with this list, though I think stAte and ULL are tied/interchangeable.

1) Georgia Southern - Obvious rivalry game
2) Troy - There is some history and a lot in common. Great potential rival.
3) Georgia State - location and potential. They need to develop or interest won't be there. Proximity allows for travel.
4) Arkansas State - Good football
5) ULL - Good football
6) ULM - Good football
7) South Alabama - As program develops, interest could improve
8) Texas State - Too far to travel. Some interest as an FCS move up also.
9) NMSU - No real tradition or history with App
10) Idaho - No real tradition or history with App
The middle section is very interchangeable for me. 9&10 are clearly bringing up the rear.

1) Georgia Southern - Rivalry game and in state for me.
2) Troy - Good program that App has history with and easy road trip from ATL.
3) Georgia State - I live 15 minutes from The Dome. Hope they improve and I expect they will.
4) Arkansas State - Good program, questionable road trip.
5) ULL - Good program and a fun road trip not that far from New Orleans.
6) ULM - Good program, questionable road trip.
7) South Alabama - Not a bad road trip from ATL and one of my favorite areas of the South.
8) Texas State - Improving program and former FCS brother.
9) Idaho - Never been to the university, but like the area. Expensive road trip.
10) New Mex - Haven't spent much time in the area, but would like to visit. Expensive road trip.

1) Georgia Southern - existing rivalry
2) Troy - strong proponent for our invitation to the Sun Belt
3-4 tie) Arkansas State & Louisiana - current top dogs in football
5) Georgia State - closest opponent + prime recruiting ground
6-8 tie) Texas State, ULM, USA - no connection but at least they play all sports
9-10 tie) Idaho, New Mexico St - football only members so hard for a rivalry to develop when we only compete in one sport
11-12 tie) ULAR, UTA - don't play football, far away, no interest currently.
I can easily see my list changing once we start playing the games and new rivalries develop.

5. Ga St - driving distance & Georgia Dome alone
6. Texas St - good football, family in Texas, would love to visit
7. USA - intriguing, some potential there
8. ULM - good football
9. Idaho - I'm sure it's beautiful out there?
10. NMSU - I'm sure it's almost as beautiful out there?

All I can say is that Georgia Southern and ULL are gonna mix like oil and water. There will be some fights between those two fanbases. Bank on it.
I pretty much agree with the original poster. Would like to see the other GSU get good. Hotlanta is an awesome road trip.

Elaborate if you can. Are they both a bunch of slack-jawed yokels?

Can't speak for Luvyosef, but I will say that, more than any other team in the SB, ULL seems to be pretty full of themselves. They have a pretty high opinion of where they are in the pecking order. Combine that with the fact that GaSo doesn't do humility very well and there is definitely the potential for conflict. I would hope that any conflicts are going to be of the message board variety and not the real thing. GaSo has a couple of fans who are making it hard for the whole group over on the Sun Belt board.

[b1.U of LL - excellent football program w/moderate national recognition
2. Ga So - already a "blood" rivalry
3. Troy - past history and their recent success will build into a rivalry
4. Ga St - travelling to Atlanta will be fun
5. Ark St - let them have ASU...we are APP STATE
6. Texas St - would enjoy a trip to Texas
7. USA - another Charleston type atmosphere
8. ULM - I'll enjoy another visit to La.
9. Idaho - no clue
10. NMSU - no preference][/b]
8-10 could be interchangeable for me!

1. Georgia Southern
2. Troy -- Other than Southern, the only school in the SBC that owes us some getback.
3. Georgia State -- Whatddya Have? Whatddya Have?? Whatddya Have??
4. Arkansas State -- Solid program.
5. Louisiana -- Mostly for the tailgate.
6. South Alabama -- They're the granddaddy of the Sun Belt.
7. Texas State -- I always liked them in FCS.
8. NM State -- Why not?
9. ULM -- Meh. Hopefully, they'll give me a reason to look forward to that game.
10. Idaho -- Can we trade them for Montana?

1) GSU- No need to explain
2) Troy- A little history with them and they will be in our division once a 12th is added
3) UL-L- Fans seem to be die-hard and I enjoyed the campus/stadium when we stopped by in 2008
4) Ark. State- A program on the rise and seem to have some good fans
5) USA- Great location and a lot of potential
6) Ga. State- Closest SB school to us... that's about all they have going for them
7) UL-M- Craziest equipment manager you'll ever meet (you had to be on our trip to Northwestern State in 98)
8) Tx. State- Recent move up like us and we played them in Boone a few years back
9) NMSU- Too far away but a better stadium than Idaho
10) Idaho- Too far away and no fanbase

JMU alumni here. I visit these boards on occasion, but have never registered, until now.
This thread got my attention and made me curious as to where you guys thought we might fall in line.
I love it when our teams play. I'm older, an '82 grad, and have seen us play many, many times over the years, and do not remember a lopsided game ever. Though, you have gotten the better of us on more occasions than I care to speak of.
I have all the respect in the world for your football program and school. I've lived in Charlotte for 25 years, but a VA native and hope to return there someday. If some of you could simply put down a number instead of redoing your earlier post, it would be nice to get a feel of your desire, or lack there of, to have us join the SB should we be invited.
Thanks for your input.
