Is there a worse slogan than this to brand your athletic teams? They display it prominently on their football pants and many other places.
To me it is a huge embarrassment. I could say alot more but will leave it at that? Typical GS stuff.

Give me Black Saturday all week long. Found out from a Black and Gold Podcast that it was originally Block Saturday, because of how may kicks were blocked during the first years of Mack Brown and Sparky Woods.

Everything GS stinks. But at least it’s original. Unlike roll neers. Which stinks also. Someone said GATA real meaning is actually something else.

This morning I had a young lady from the Yosef Club call and thank me (very nicely I might add) for my continued contributions to the YC. Then as she was closing her comments she said, "roll 'neers!" I immediately told her, "NO! We are not 'neers' we are Mountaineers! We are not Alabama!" She then replied politely, apologized, and said "Go Mountaineers!"

This "roll neers" and "go neers" is blasphemous, stupid, and not who we are. My wife is a Winthrop grad and even she said it sounds stupid.

GATA is Get After Their Asses. Its not original, Erk Russell brought it over from UGA, where it was an unofficial slogan. They made it their own though.

I don't say roll neers but it doesn't bother me. Theres other things we should focus on ire on. Anything that keeps students and young alumni engaged in this era of declining interest in college athletics is fine by me.
