There's already 2400 ish players in the portal and it's not even officially open yet. That's as many as last year already.

If this is where college football wants to go.....then just break from the NCAA.... get a collective bargaining agreement with the players to revenue share with what the school and conferences make. Limit the number of times you can go into the portal to one/two times and be done with it. This cant be sustained as it.

I think someone posted it before but what was the breakdown last year in terms of the number who entered, the number who transferred and the number who ended up out of football (because they left and got no offer)? I also wonder how many "upgraded" so to speak going from FCS to FBS and from G5 to P5. One step further would be to see the percentage of transfers who saw increased playing time. I'm willing to bet that the last one is a low number. We have had our share of incoming transfer players who barely played. I kind of discount the grad transfer guys everywhere because they at least already had 4-5 years at other schools.

Absolutely correct, college football will need to model itself after the NFL. Whats taking place right now is unsustainable.

This upcoming year is the last year of sixth year COVID players. This may be the peak year (maybe not), just because of the extra year of eligibility.

For the record,

Jalen McLeod ended up with 46 tackles. 5.5 sacks. 1 caused fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 pass defended this year for Auburn. Very close to his stat line the previous year for App.

Christian Wells had 11 catches for 170 yards and 1 TD for UMass vs. 9 catches for 168 yards and 3 TD's in 2022 for App
