THE RUNDOWN

New Mexico State University traces its roots back to 1888 and began as primarily an agricultural college.  They were recently admitted to the Sun Belt as a football only member after the WAC decided to not pursue maintaining football as a conference sport.

The football team is currently coached by Doug Martin, who is in his first year at New Mexico State. He was 29-53 at Kent State after 7 years.  New Mexico State has a long history in football but has not experienced much success on the gridiron.  They've only earned 3 bowl bids, with the last bowl bid being in 1960.
