South Alabama 30 ULL 8

7 out of 8 teams are bowl eligible but only 3 are projected to get bids. Bring on 2014.

seems to be the main reason why we're seeing more mention of new bowl games being added for lower tier conferences. not enough bowls for bowl eligible teams

Yeah but I'm not a fan of 6-6 teams getting in bowls. 7-5 at least or FBS should go back to 11 regular season games. I have no idea why they went to 12 to begin with.

I might be able to answer this with one glyph.

Wasn't it just last year or the year before when there was concern about having enough bowl eligible teams to fill all the slots?

Thing is though, the Bowls would rather take a 6-6 ACC team than a 10-2 Sun Belt team.

This is why I want the BCS conferences aka NFL farm system to take their ball and go, leave, do whatever and let the rest of the conferences work some sort of deal out with our own balls and own playoff formula. Wishful thinking, but it's better than having to see a 6-6 Miss State team make a bowl every year when they clearly haven't earned it.

Totally agree. Nothing about the Tarheel season says they should be playing in the post season either. What about Clemson says they should be playing in a BCS bowl? They hit Georgia on a bad day early in the season. They were crushed by the other top 10 ranked teams they played. But their fans will travel well to Fla so $$. The BCS system is poop LET THEM GO. It is all about money. With less than 50% graduation rates at most of the top teir schools they are no longer fielding student athletes anyway. I want no part of that crap. I would rather go watch LRC play in the DII semis next week than to support a program with the kind of morals you must sign on to in order to be competitive at the highest level.

While I agree a 6-6 team no matter the league shouldn't get into a bowl game there were only two teams with records better than 6-6 (WKU 8-4 & Toledo 7-5) to get left out. WKU definitely should have gotten a bid over some of the 6-6 teams, but it is hard to say Toledo is any more deserving than some of them. If we win 10 games in the Sun Belt we'll go bowling somewhere.

The most bothersome thing to me in looking at the bowl schedule is that the champions of the MAC and of CUSA got "rewarded" with a 6-6 opponent for their bowl game.

I understand your overall point and agree. But, just for accuracy, the MAC champion - Ball State - is playing the #2 Sun Belt school - Arkansas State - in the GoDaddy.com Bowl.

Bowling Green beat NIU in the MAC championship game. Bowling Green is playing a 6-6 Pitt in their bowl game.

Ball St wasn't the MAC champion - they didn't even play in the championship game ---

You're right. Just shows what I know. For some reason I was mixing Bowling Green (actual MAC champion) up with Ball St (actual Ark St opponent in bowl). I was just coming back to delete my previous post but you responded before I did it.

Sorry appst89!
