I personally don't think EKU football is ready for the jump, especially facilities wise, but there is smoke surrounding them.
While JMU would have been nice, they do provide another bus ride from Boone, help in basketball, and in the general public eye not much of a drop from JMU.

Don't know about facilities, but based on recent performance they'd be a wash in football vs. JMU and an upgrade in hoops.
Where they aren't as favorable as JMU would be the recruiting territory they'd open up for the rest of the league and, to the extent it matters, academics.

Looks like they get between 5-15k for home games even though it seats 22k. Hard to get overly excited about, especially for the reasons EastHallApp mentioned.

Rumor is Benson is working hard to find us a traveling partner, and since JMU isn't going to join, EKU might be the best available, don't know much about EKU, hopefully, they become a stong member.

I see them as a WKU kind of program, not as good at football at first, but a better basketball program.
If the Sun Belt brings in EKU and then NMSU all sports basketball is looking up.

I'm sure you are correct on this Saint - it seems their football has been sort of middle of the pack for several years - unlike some, they do have a solid tradition in football, but it's been awhile ---
