Transportation to SB Cities

Unread post by McLeansvilleAppFan » Wed Jul 30, 2014 5:30 pm

I am making a Google Spreadsheet for Transportation options to (or close to) SB cities and towns. I am including Train, Airport, Intercity Bus, City Transit, Taxi, Car Rentals, and other. For Boone, I filled in most of each field with some information. As much as I love Amtrak I did Trains for all the SB locations, as that was my original interest. I finished off Boone, well, its Boone and I know the area a bit.

The link below lets anyone edit. Feel free to fill-in any information you know about the other cities.

Good job!

I wonder if Tri-Cities Regional Airport might not be a better option then GSO or Charlotte it's about 20 minutes shorter, but I don't think it's served by as many airline or how the roads are.

Under the notes tab I do include Tri-Cities, along with info about Hickory and even Boone's airport in case someone wanted to fly in on a private prop-style plane.

In the case of Tri-Cities I figured the limited flights to/from here was not worth placing on the main page. But most of these SB cities are not going to have direct flights to PTI and CLT so it may be easier to go SB City to ATL to Tri-Cities as much as SB City to ATL to CLT or PTI. If Tri-cities is only 20 min shorter I would not think it would be worth the (what must be) more cost.

With Amtrak I did not always grab the two closest cities but close cities that may have a different routing option. In the case of Boone I even included a station in WV. Not really practical but if one really wanted take Amtrak and you lived in Chicago this would be an option. The other options for Boone are on the various tabs at the bottom.

Thanks for looking at this and offering suggestions.

Nice job!

Your phone number for Enterprise in Boone seems to be incomplete.

edit 2: You said it was editable. My bad. Fixed.

I am hoping some one fills in a boat/cruise for the Port of Mobile, AL. :D

We should add the cities where the championships (when not in a SB city) are held and FB Bowl games. Basketball is in NOLA

Someone added under the "Other" sheet Best Burger, Best BBQ,etc for TXST. I had not thought of that, but that could be the best thing about this document. Feel free to add in your own thoughts on this. I know we have some ideas for this for Boone. Fill it in.

I also added in locations for the Bowl Games and SB championships. Most are no campus but a few are TBD or in non-SB cities.
