Great, I knew someone would do this if I did not.
Though this leads to an interesting observation. We don't seem to get behind these sort of things like we did a few years ago. Collectively, I guess we don't see them as important, and that includes me. I know I was not as into the "Outdoor School" vote last spring as much as previous years. I voted but it did not have as much traction on this board.

I think the school has done a terrible job managing the brand. They should have been the first ones on the horn getting this mistake fixed. And this isn't the first time our fans have been two steps ahead of the marketing department.

Unless we pay someone to check and scour the web I don't see how our Ath Dept could keep up and know about some of this stuff. This is one reason any organization should not go through brand changes so much. Though I am not a huge fan of the Gorton's Fisherman logo, and prefer the block "A" or the style we have here on YC, the changes take time to filter down to some TV station in New Haven, Conn.
I found out about this by jumping over to the WCU board for a minute last night and they had it posted for the SoCon. Now I do think it would not be a bad idea to have one person, and this might be the SID, that we could email with a specific subject line to alert about these problems. One consistent form letter/email from an official member of ASU Athletics could be written and having that ready and hit send would not take much time or expense.
On a related but separate issue there is something we could do as a collective message board and that is clean up all the dozens of Wikipedia and other pages on the internet. I did a few over the summer and was going to make a master Google Doc so we could update as needed. There is some links to us about Carolinas Conf, SoCon and now Sunbelt. We have Wikipedia pages on multiple sports. Things like enrollment numbers are a few years old, though I think the Chancellor is correct.
Then there are places such as College Football Data Warehouse that has us listed as I-AA still and some FBS only databases that have not updated for us yet. These may wait until the fist game is over but there are a lot of pages out there that are incorrect, not just with a logo but the basic data is wrong. And most all of the links refer to goasu.com and not appstatesports.com. They redirect correctly, but still goasu is deprecated.
Lastly, the App State website is not correct. They still use goasu for the links to athletics. Again it forwards correctly, but technically it is not correct. Also I noticed that the links on the appstatesports page for each sport (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/whatever else) are more inclusive than the links to the same social media on the appstate.edu pages. Not much different but not the exact same.
Basically a lot of stuff to keep up with, and with us changing logos and then changing domain names, and everything else in the last 24 months there is just a bunch of scouring of the web that we could do.

Setting up a Google alert.

I just posted a new thread about this. It looks like you may be on to something before I get to it. I was not thinking of Google Alert but that is a good idea. We will see the response we get from the other thread and merge the efforts between the online spreadsheet of webpages with the info the Alerts can give us.
