No Georgia State? How is that even possible?

Seven, my friend. Seven teams.

Idaho, Troy, Ark. St., ULM, Tx. St, NMSU, Ga Southern.

That's everyone but us, Southern Alabama, UL-L, and (yes, weird) Ga State. The writer uses a formula to derive the rankings (though he doesn't reveal his methodology) and admits that there are some weird results with only one week to work with. I'm guessing margin of defeat is a factor, hence Ga. St. skipping the list.

If we don't dump Georgia State, NMSU, and Idaho, the Sun Belt will never be able to grow the way it needs to. Those three teams are holding the entire conference back and it makes the rest of us look amateur.

Drop Georgia State and add somebody else in the east from JMU/EKU/Liberty/UTC.

I agree. If they don't drop these schools, I HOPE we seriously consider another move in 5 years. I know we just got here, but the Sun Belt is garbage. We all knew that when we moved, but it is still better than the SoCon. I can see us winning the conference in the next 5 years. Not only because we are getting in some good talent, but also because there are not many teams to challenge us weekly.

Why do you think the Sun Belt would drop Ga State? Sorry that isn't happening. We've played one year of SBC football. We might want to hold off on making such arrogant statements about the quality of the conference that gave us an FBS home.

Deservedly so do those SunBelt teams belong there. APP belonged there first half of last year, before things clicked. I posted on another thread about these teams getting waxed, but they played some of the land's top teams. Only positive is that I think APP finishes higher than projected 4th, based on week 1, but it is only week 1. The Clemson game will tell us a lot about where we stand.

Watch for Idaho to get beat by half a hundred by USC.

It's not fair to say that the conference is "garbage." Three teams are garbage. Another one or two are pretty bad. But these opening games notwithstanding, most of the conference is (or is capable of being) solid.

Even the list's author doesn't believe Ga Southern, Ark. St, and others belong on this list. It's just the way the math shook out, and everything's inflated when you have just one game a piece to work with.

I watched a decent amount of the Georgia southern game, and am still a little nervous about our game. Their run defense was actually pretty good. Got good penetration and had several tfl's. Their secondary was awful.
Although west va had their offense schemed REALLY well at times, it is still difficult to stop and defend. They lull you with runs, then throw the deep ball. They just happened to all be ints. with the backup qb.
I hate them and their annoying offense. Hopefully we will be ready when they come to Boone.

I was amazed at just how bad Georgia Southern's backup quarterback was. That last interception was seven yards off target on a 15-yard throw.

I feel with all of the shuffling that is yet to take place, you'll see the G5 conferences become more geographically friendly. I would love a league with App, Marshall, ECU, Old Dominion, MTSU, WKU, EKU, UTC and Memphis. Go App!
