Same title as on the CSNbbs board. It's Sunday, time for a Bubas Cup post-needed or not. I wrote more (silly) on that site if interested.

How is Howard an associate member when they are still FCS?

They are D1, just FCS in football. I think Hartwick is DII but in soccer play up, which is an option for a few sports and I think can be only one sport at a school. There are some rules on this so it is not a free-for-all.

NJIT, Hartwick, and Howard are soccer only but get the SB to the min of 6 teams so we get a bid to the NCAA tourney. When we add CCU we may go to 7 or we may kick a team out. I imagine we stay at 7 for scheduling and as a backup in case a school has to drop a sport due to budgets.

After this season, isn't NJIT and/or Hartwick leaving to go to another conference?

I don't understand kicking a school out of a conference such as the Southern Conference booting East Tennessee when they dropped football when Davidson (bar the lower level), UNC-G, and College of Charleston didn't have football to begin with. I know the so called rationale was the way the administration handled dropping the sport. The talk on here of dropping Idaho from the SunBelt is just as puzzling.

I don't know but that explain getting CCU in ASAP, not that I am opposed to that. NJIT is in 3 or 4 confs so maybe they are trying to consolidate.

Hartwick is DIII and not DII as I thought, maybe they are going DIII for all sports.

Though I don't remember hearing about any moves.

NJIT is moving to the Atlantic Sun, so there spot in soccer will be taken by Coastal and we will remain a six team league.

I do remember hearing about that now that you mention it.
