I don't fault him for being interested in a P5 job, but the fact that 1) he's having someone leak his interest that publicly and obviously, and 2) for one of the worst P5 jobs in the country, would not make me feel great as a Southern fan. Not to mention the quote kind of implies that he thinks he's limited by GaSo's option tradition.
It's going to be a wild offseason for the coaching carousel though. I'm not going to gloat until it's all settled and we are sure our guy is staying.

Agreed

Usually, the report says that the school is interested (or maybe interested) in the coach.
How often do you hear that a coach is interested in a school without knowing if the school has any interest in the coach?

Sounds a little like a bball coach we had whose name rhymes with fuzz!

what a great day, first we find out Miami is coming to Boone, and now we learn Fritz is so desperate to leave Statesboro, that he is actively seeking any other coaching job in the country, including one that's so bad, its almost a guarantee career killer. Just got to get thru this offseason with SS staying in Boone and everything is great.

No way Satt even considers it. Loaded team coming back. Great NC schedule on tap. The future is bright in Boone.

If we knock off Tenn and or the U next year Satt may have to get boosted considerably, like to the $1M range. Just my opinion.

As much joy as I take in Stink fidgeting uncomfortably in their seats, I also look at it from this stand point. Coaching changes could be good or bad. Maybe GS gets a rising star...maybe they get a stinker and that program falls off a bit - while I would take much joy in that, it would make the Sunbelt look worse than it already does. I understand poaching coaches has always been and probably will always be a problem at this level. I'd be curious to hear if Karl Benson has any thoughts on creative ways to keep coaches in the Sunbelt longer.

Is Fritz really that good of a coach? What are his best three wins the last two years, think about it.

Judging by the way he handled the UGA end game I would have to say no. that was a travesty of coaching

Fritz is originally from the Midwest, and according to the USA Today database of coaching salaries Iowa State is paying the most recent coach $2.2 million per year (in the top 50 salaries in college football). The report does sound a bit odd, but Fritz is not likely to be a candidate for a top 25 job, he is in his late 50s,, and this would be a pretty sweet way to "cash in" for years of hard work -- if Iowa State has any interest in him. Anyone think Satt or any other Sun Belt coach would not be interested in any job that paid $2mill?

Also have to consider that this could be a ploy to squeeze Southern for more money.

This won't help GSU recruiting.

Wrote this after we beat them, but basically Southern has established that they're better than teams 5-11 in the Sun Belt.
I do think he's a good coach - they consistently beat all those SBC teams they're supposed to and have been competitive with some good P5 teams, all of which is impressive for year 2 in FBS. Their fans just get a little ahead of their skis sometimes.
