App State Logo Designs?

OK, fellow Cabin members...random question for ya:

App has had some great logos over the years (i.e., the Block A) and some not so great ones (i.e., the Gorton's fisherman).

Who has been involved in designing App's logos over the years?

The current one is ok, but looks tired. The perfect one to me is the mountaineer mania one. The scruffy angry looking one

The current Yosef logo is nostalgic and I like it, but I have to agree that the Mountaineer Mania logo is the best version. I wish the University would negotiate a deal. I have talked with the owner of Mountaineer Mania and he was very interested in working with the U but never happened.

Yeah, the Mountaineer Mania fighting Yosef is badass. Wish they would at least modernize the current one.

I actually like the old school yosef that we use now. I think our current branding is better than it has ever been since I started at App in 1988.

The first time I saw the Mountaineer Mania Yosef was in 1988. I was a high school senior visiting my App State junior girlfriend for the first time in Boone.

I like the current Yosef and the Block A is iconic, but the MM Yosef has always been my favorite. I fell in love with App and Boone that weekend.

The girl and me? We split two years later.

The Mountaineer Mania Yosef is the best IMO. I'd love to see a full body struttin' Yosef logo.

I haven't been to Mountaineer Mania in awhile, anyone know if he offers any merch w/the scowling Yosef on it?

Mountaineer Mania is one of the shops I check out regularly when I'm in Boone. Of course, that hasn't been as frequently over the past year but, based on my observations, they haven't really had much featuring their version of Yosef in recent years.

MM is under new management and the reviews I have seen aren't good.

Mountaineer Mania Yosef is great and should absolutely be a tertiary logo used by the university.

App State seems to be SUPER conservative with branding right now. They forbid any use of Gorton's Fisherman/Davy Jones Yosef, Flying Yosef, and others. Meanwhile, if you walk into UNC or Clemson's bookstore, you'll see all sorts of retro rams and tigers.

Our university hates money, it seems.

MM is under new management and the reviews I have seen aren't good.

We are up to boone from time to time as have daughter up there following family tradition. Not sure if it is due to pandemic and Forecasted slower sales.. So not much in the store. Was our "go to" place. Has not been great last several visits. Hopefully it is just a pandemic related issue with lower inventory. Wish we had something on King, similar to Carolina Pride in Franklin, with some higher end wear.

Not unhappy that the both the gorton's fisherman and the flying Yosef have gone away. I liked the flying part but always thought that 1980's Yosef profile looked like was drawn by somebody who responded to one of those old mail order ads that said you could learn to draw Tippy the Turtle or whatever.

Flying Yosef. Can someone link, I gotta check that out. Yeah, we need the scruffy/fighting MM Yosef. As someone mentioned, ESPN used a similar one sometimes. I would love to see that again or that become our logo. Current Yosef logo is just too tired for modern day sports. Our old school fans may like it, but I bet the youth/recruits arent enamored with it
