Speaking of holding carbonation, I opened a Reed’s Ginger Beer last night and the half I didn’t use I put in the fridge. When I took it out this morning, it still had plenty of carbonation. Pepsi when first opened tastes good, but it loses carbonation before you’re halfway through drinking it.

I don't drink soft drinks, but I will be forever grateful to Pepsi. They were huge in helping me to get a new High school’s athletic program off the ground. I don't know how it is now but back then Wake County did not support the athletic programs. To any extent. We had to pay security, officials and on and on. As a new school we had no scoreboards, concession equipment or anything like that. I contacted Pepsi and they came in BIG. Scoreboards for Football, Basketball, Baseball, and softball. They equipped two concession stands. This enabled us to concentrate on raising funds to buy buses and a hundred other things. I will always be a Pepsi booster.

Agreed. They have been big in the support of our local Pony League baseball/softball program.bcoach wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 10:56 amI don't drink soft drinks, but I will be forever grateful to Pepsi. I hate that school districts open schools and not fully stock the building. I’m sure they bought desks, and library books, and beakers. Athletics, and arts/band programs are a part of the cost when schools are built. School boards (especially those in districts that have more than one or two high schools) think they can score brownie points with the electorate by skimping on athletics and arts.bcoach wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 10:56 amI don't drink soft drinks, but I will be forever grateful to Pepsi. But I am appreciative of what Pepsi does for the schools. It opens up community donations for other purposes.

I agree with you guys on Pepsi. We needed new scoreboards in all gyms and fields and stadium and Pepsi put up nice stuff. They put up the scoreboards and our end of the deal was to sell Pepsi products at all contests for 8 years. That’s a good deal.

I can’t speak for today as I now live in Virginia. At that time when you opened a new school you had no parental support because you didn’t know who they were yet. So, what happens a couple of weeks after school starts? Yep, first football game and you have no bus to get them there. Not allowed to use the yellow buses so you have to get your own. I could write a book on my experiences in the first few years. I was president of the Booster club that first four years and it is an experience I will never forget. As far a bus those first few weeks was I really wrong for writing a bad check to cover a bad check on a bus lease? It was a ton of work and a lot of hours that I wouldn’t trade for a million bucks. Four great years. Again, though we never would have gotten to where we were in four years without Pepsi.AppinVA wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 1:47 pmI hate that school districts open schools and not fully stock the building. All beverage companies will do that, less Choice Beverage Co who is more selective due to funds. Reality is, you will likely sell more Coke than Pepsi for concessions and make significantly more profit long term.bcoach wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 10:56 amI don't drink soft drinks, but I will be forever grateful to Pepsi. But Pepsi DID do it and Coke took a pass. Have no idea if you would sell more coke and don't care because Pepsi took care of us.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 6:31 pmAll beverage companies will do that, less Choice Beverage Co who is more selective due to funds. Mm Kay. Just giving you the economics behind it. I wrote contracts for 20 years. Beverage companies do a lot for the local communities and often don't get the recognition. I appreciate what you said, but my point was that all companies will do that in most cases. For every one Pepsi does, Coke and Sundrop will too.bcoach wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 6:30 amBut Pepsi DID do it and Coke took a pass. I trust that they will most times if you say so but not that time. In fact it was with great pleasure the principal allowed me (not being a school employee) to make the call to have the Coke machine removed from the teachers lounge. That was 31 years ago and only Pepsi has ever been alowed in my home or business.appstatealum wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:26 pmMm Kay. Just giving you the economics behind it.
