Re: Boone Restaurants Closing
Put me down as another vouch for Betty's. We went there for brunch when we were in town last summer. Good food and service.
Also, while we're talking breakfast spots, it warms my heart to see Boone Bagelry still doing their thing. Made a stop there last visit as well.

From what the local news has said, they needed a 3 ft. easement, which they finally did get. A signage request was recently denied by the town as well.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue May 20, 2025 8:25 amWhat are the issues with Longhorn moving in?PoplarHillApp wrote: ↑Tue May 20, 2025 8:06 amHate to see Red Onion close, but I can understand after growing up in the restaurant business. Sometimes you get tired, it’s time to retire, or you don’t have anyone to take it over. 45 years is a phenomenal run, with an 80% failure rate in that industry within 5 years. Boone has been fortunate to have a lot of successful long-term restaurants. Hopefully the trend will continue.
I keep hoping for less fast food and fewer chains coming to Boone, but that’s a pipe dream. Longhorn is trying to come to the vacant Golden Corral site, but meeting tough sledding with the town from what I hear.

It's going to be demolished, haven't heard anything about new construction.

Sure, but I wasn’t Greek so I didn’t spend a lot of time there. Probably drank more beers there after graduating. Regarding that location, the place I missed the most was Tumbleweed. Maybe it was the beer talking but it had some seriously good Tex-Mex.

What amazes me is how short a time Savannah Joe's was actually open, maybe four years.

Me too. Once I acquired the taste for beer, I was there Tuesday thru Saturday most weeks.

I’ve always had a taste for beer. Think Norm Peterson, RIP. Once I turned 21, I established a second residence at Savannah Joes.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 12:13 pmI never acquired the taste for beer, so SJs was The Place!!![]()

94 was at SJ’s so frequently back then, it was rumored around campus that he was a silent partner.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 12:34 pmThose $1 Natural drafts were definitely budget friendly.AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 12:32 pmI’ve always had a taste for beer. So, your saying 94 was in a remote learning environment before it was standard practiceBootsy wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 1:23 pm94 was at SJ’s so frequently back then, it was rumored around campus that he was a silent partner.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 12:34 pmThose $1 Natural drafts were definitely budget friendly.AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 12:32 pmI’ve always had a taste for beer. I can neither confirm, nor deny this.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 2:11 pmSo, your saying 94 was in a remote learning environment before it was standard practiceBootsy wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 1:23 pm94 was at SJ’s so frequently back then, it was rumored around campus that he was a silent partner.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 12:34 pmThose $1 Natural drafts were definitely budget friendly.AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 12:32 pmI’ve always had a taste for beer.
