I met Chuck a few times. A true Mountaineer if ever there was one.
RIP ASU66

One of the kindest humans I ever met, one of the original SI message board guys. Thanks for sharing and honoring him.

Re: A sad day for the MMB
I never met Chuck but do recognize his handle from way back in the early 2000’s on the old Delphi board. He was an active member from what I recall and I’m sure saw a lot of change at App through the years. Sad news indeed.

Met him a couple times in person but had lots of communication with him on the old delphi boards. He was App State through and through. We lost a good one.

Sad to hear. He gave his ALL for App State.

He was my friend. No longer here , he ran the race , he fought the good fight. “Well done my good and faithful servant “

ASU66 and JCline accounted for large amount of Delphi activity and were responsible for passing along a lot of history from the ASTC days.
RIP Gentlemen.

So very sorry to hear this news. Chuck was an absolute gentleman and a great App. I was worried when he no longer was posting here.

Re: A sad day for the MMB
I feel like weve lost a number of our old head mountaineers in recent years. I dont see as many historical stories or answers to questions on here even during football season. Fewer back in our day kinds of things. I enjoyed hearing those and pondering App life in the 50s and 60s, especially when old photos would get published on social media. Sadly, it won't be too many more years before much of our old lore is gone as no one will be able to tell it and I doubt many of us listened well enough to remember it.

Thanks for the heads up. He was one of my favorites. Always the voice of maturity and reason, so rare in the
world of message boards. I felt worse for him than anyone else when App dropped Men's Soccer.

Chuck use to bring up how class schedules use to be Monday-Wednesday-Friday and Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday and memories of Broome-Kirk Gym that even years later I remember.

Re: A sad day for the MMB
I never met Chuck in real life, but he was always one of those guys, that when he posted, you knew he was legit.
His love for App was evident, and I have always appreciated his knowledge that carried through from the Delphi days.
RIP 66 and my sincerest condolences to his friends and family. We lost a real one.

Re: A sad day for the MMB
ASU66 was instrumental in getting a black powder rifle back in KBS. He hit up the brass, Longrifle and I provided assistance with the rifle and sundries. Several MMB members contributed $ to the effort.appst89 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 9:00 amhttps://www.journalpatriot.com/obituari ... 6e5ed.html

Re: A sad day for the MMB
I went to middle/high school with Chuck’s son. I saw him several years ago and asked him how his dad was doing and mentioned enjoying his posts on the MMB, his son said “he’s always on there, he loves that site”. Chuck truly loved Appalachian, and never wanted anything more than for App to be the best it could be. He was a fine Mountaineer and the world is worse off without him in it.
Give 'em hell!
