Nice! Haven’t stayed there but have been to the rooftop plenty. Feel like this will be similar, offsite parking elsewhere to maximize building footprint.t4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:10 amThe Horton has parking, it is just across Howard street behind that apartment complex. Too expensive for underground parking. Not dense enough for no parking like the Horton. Too costly for a deck. Maybe they’ll do offsite parking and force you to valet. Could see them taking +-20 spots from the Holmes Deck/nearby lot for Valet at this hotel.appdaze wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 8:40 amThe legends building is on .75 acres
The parking lot is a separate plot of land at .57 acres.
It would be very difficult to put a building the size of a small hotel there bumped up right behind the car garage.
Edit...here is the link to the GIS. Zoom in on Boone and add the 2022 Aerial overlay. You can click on individual plots of land for information.

There is another hotel opening up on King, further down on King, same side as Horton. Believe it is right before you cross street to Mellow Mushroom.....if they have not changed it to apartments....311neers wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:12 amNice! Not sure if it is a hotel or apartments, can't tell from the outside. What I do know from my last visit is that they are putting Comeback Shack on the ground level. That should significantly reduce some congestion at the original location.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:15 amThere is another hotel opening up on King, further down on King, same side as Horton. Occasionally I will put their stuff on now, and it still holds up. They were a great band and always enjoyed seeing them live in Boone.

Re: RIP Legends
My understanding the hotel will only happen after the University acquires the gas station. Until then, probably just be a few more parking spots. Should've been torn down right after Covid. Too much has been spent to keep it up until now.

Phil’s with the drive thru window! Sounds like a holdout to me. Aka Thirsty Beaver in Plaza Midwood.

I think it was a Harris Teeter, before it moved to King St. (Earth Fare). But I was a wee lad. This thread has me thinking of the shows I saw there during the 90s. Lots just before they broke big.

Re: RIP Legends
I saw a show (pretty sure it was the Smithereens) during one of the final 4 games, UNLV v Duke (forget the year) and there was hardly anyone there because everyone was at home watching the game. Of the people at the show, I bet at least half were crowded around the only tv in the back that was broadcasting the game. Other than that, it was a good show.

When H'appy's 1st opened it was before Beer in Boone. They allowed brown bagging though, which was great.
Limited to a 6 pack but it was so cool to have a nightclub in Boone.
