That is too bad. Adam has been great. I hope they hire him
Adam is the best PBP voice we’ve had, and I say that with no slight to DJ or the ones who have come before him. We’ve been blessed.

I will reserve any excitement until I actually see some tangible results. It seems like every few years we get some notification like this, whether it be for ticket sales or NIL or other things, and yet nothing seems to ever significantly change for the better. Just seems like we get similar issues regularly occurring regardless of what entity is now handling the product. I hope this new endeavor positively enhances App's position, but I will wait until I see proof of that before I celebrate the announcement. I fear it's just another example of much to do about nothing.

They are chosen by the school and paid as contractors. The problem that Adam has is that his FT job is with PayFly’s competitor which creates a conflict of interest.

Does it or did PlayFly get Appalachian's sports to get Adam?

People change jobs all the time. Ask the coach. They can get Adam if they want him, and they should.

Nope. I talked to Adam last night. He can’t call App games if he is working for Learfield.

They could but his FT job is with Learfield and PlayFly didn’t offer him a job to replace that income. At least I didn’t get that feeling from our conversation.

Don’t think he’s leaving a job like that, unless they just hand out titles instead of raises.

I hate that this move looks like the end for Adam Witten calling our games. He has done a fantastic job for ASU and is an all-around great guy. I hope this move doesn't end up biting ASU in the behind. The new company is only 5 years old and we are replacing a 50 year old N.C. based company that is focused on college sports and is tops in the field. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I'm pretty sure Doug Gillin has forgotten more about sports marketing and that industry than everyone of this board combined.

I'm sure there will be a question or two about Adam's status at the upcoming Spring tour Yosef Club events.

I would say almost anything that we gain could be considered tangible. It is hard to put a exact point on it because the wording of the press release is extremely vague....

" leveraging its industry-leading expertise to maximize commercial opportunities and further integrate brands into the Mountaineer experience. The long-term commitment will focus on elevating the university's athletic brand by aligning with corporate partners, enhancing gameday activations, and providing student-athletes with new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities within the local and regional community."

So based on that I would be impressed if we get some additional new corporate partners (especially large ones with lots of money), or tangible metrics that prove an elevation of our athletic brand, or new and enhanced gameday activations (not sure what this actually refers to specifically), and of course if they can somehow improve our NIL four our student athletes it would be great. I would really be happy for any improvement in any of those areas and would consider that tangible. I hope to see it, but I have my doubts.
