It is actually for the benefit of the other teams in a conference - for example using the old SoCon for basketball as the sport - APP could travel to Greenville/Spartanburg and play one team on a Saturday and the other on Monday - they could travel to Greensboro and play UNCG on a Tuesday and Elon on Thursday - they could travel to Charleston and play CofC on Sat and Citadel on Mon --- thus they could play 2 games without having to travel back to Boone in between games
