There is. The thing is those plans are always in flux. I seem to recall asking DG about expansion when we were talking about the new conference mates. At the time, there were no immediate plans to do so. We need to pay off the 105 project and finish getting the money for the IPF. IMO, I don’t think adding permanent seats are a serious consideration unless the increased season tickets sells continue past this year./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 11:33 pmIs there a plan in place for additional long term seating? Obviously the money isn't there for an instant full upgrade/addition but it would be nice to at least have a plan. Like, here's a picture of what we're truly picturing, with different phases planned for over the years. And then sticking to it.
The new regionally aligned look of the Sun Belt is going to draw large crowds as old and new rivalries are formed and away crowds travel by the thousands. I just hope we are prepared beyond temporary bleachers annually.
Full disclosure, I was lazy and didn't even bother searching online to see if something exists.

Is there a link to the plan? Not suggesting they start today, but what is the plan? Is it just a figure it out as attendance increases, or is there an actual legitimate plan with drawings and such?AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 6:17 amThere is. I could be wrong but it feels abnormal to not at least have a plan for the future.
They've drawn out a close to 50 miles walking trail taking place of abandoned railroad tracks up my way. Still don't have the funding, still haven't even settled on an amount with Norfolk Southern, but they still have drawings and a plan.

Re: Appstate Endzone Camera
Are there plans with renderings? Doubtful. Are there plans for the future that they a working on in todays world? Yes. For instance, there is a plan to connect the App and State side via the NEZ. How will it look? Outside of a vision, I doubt anyone knows. The NEZ was constructed with that plan in mind.
There are projects that want to get done and projects that need to get done. The needs are more important than the wants.

Re: Appstate Endzone Camera
1. Make the NEZ lower section permanent.
2. Bowl in/connect the lower bowl corners to the east and west sidelines.
3. The concourse level on one side can have additional premium club and patio areas. The other should have a highly visible team store and fan service area (call it an interactive experience/museum of App’s football history).
Make the team store visible and accessible both inside and outside the stadium. That also frees up the limited team store space on the east concourse for more concessions, bathrooms, etc.
For those who really love it Miller hill can remain untouched a little while longer, but the concourse level above needs an overhaul.
1. Establish a south east gate near the “A” shrubs to alleviate the terrible bottle necks at the north east gate.
2. Double the bathrooms in the south end zone. This could be done in two ways:
a. build out, effectively making the entire south end zone a giant bathroom (not ideal)
b. build up. Turn the existing 1 story structures into 2 story structures with bathrooms on the first floor and concessions with patios on the second. Connect them with a walkway that goes behind the score board (another fan store perhaps?) and call it a wrap for another 15 years. This requires no additional excavation of the mountain behind the south end zone and that patio could even offer its own premium experience…think sitting on the green monster at Fenway Park.

A conceptual vision does exist, but no "plans". However, there is interest among those that make these things happen and they will be in town the 3rd.

1. Make the NEZ lower section permanent. No. Too much of a logistical issue. Who sits there? Does it generate enough revenue to offset the revenue generated by the NEZ access and the Beer Garden Experience?
2. Bowl in/connect the lower bowl corners to the east and west sidelines. This makes more sense to do this on the SEZ first. Clark likes to practice in the elements and that reduces the practice space.
3. The concourse level on one side can have additional premium club and patio areas. The other should have a highly visible team store and fan service area (call it an interactive experience/museum of App’s football history). This could be done, and successfully, with an elevated concourse which I believe is in the plans.

1. Establish a south west gate near the “A” shrubs to alleviate the terrible bottle necks at the north east gate. Who would use it other than impatient fans? Who wants to walk up that hill and back down. If there was parking there, it would be more justification for it. An alternative is utilizing the field level gates by the weight room.
2. Double the bathrooms in the south end zone. This could be done in two ways:
a. build out, effectively making the entire south end zone a giant bathroom (not ideal) Are the bathrooms currently there too crowded? Are they even necessary?
b. build up. Turn the existing 1 story structures into 2 story structures with bathrooms on the first floor and concessions with patios on the second. This requires no additional excavation of the mountain behind the south end zone and that patio could even offer its own premium experience…think sitting on the green monster at Fenway Park. Are we sure that no excavation is needed? The elevated patio and two story structure would most assuredly need footings and pylons to support the structures.
Most of these aren’t bad ideas. They do create issues though that need to be factored.

Who will walk up the hill? People who don’t want to stand in a line 2000 people deep to get in. I missed kickoff of the Elon game last year because there was such a cluster**** trying to get into the NE gate. The ticket scanners literally stopped scanning tickets and said “just go” because it was such a problem.
There’s a complaint every 5 minutes on this board that there aren’t enough bathrooms or concessions so yeah I’d say they’re necessary.
Let me rephrase and say “I doubt it would take significant excavation”. I’m a radio host not an engineer.

Re: Appstate Endzone Camera
What logistical issue does a lower section in the NEZ create? The elimination of practice space for one. The area underneath the stands are purposed for university needs that exceed 6 Saturdays a year. That space also has naming rights attached to it. Whose going to reimburse that? Does it make fiscal sense to eliminate a revenue stream to put non paying patrons in those seats such as students, band, or recruits?APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 11:21 amAppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 10:39 am1. Who will walk up the hill? People who don’t want to stand in a line 200 people deep to get in. But are enough people going to walk 70 yards uphill to justify the costs of manning those gates with people to scan tickets and security?
I understand where you are coming from and we can agree that the Gameday experience could definitely use some enhancements. But you are talking about making changes to a facility that is used 6 times a year for football without considering the other events and purposes served by the facility as it is. I get that you don’t really care how your proposal for the effective use of the NEZ affects those that are there. There are a great many people who would agree with you. But it doesn’t change the fact that there is a great deal of revenue and donation dollars that occupy that space for all of the amenities that come with it.

Make the NEZ lower section permanent. NO, a thousand people in NEZ have paid for that perk. Do you then refund some of their money? Putting students there gets no additional $. Float your way out ideas elsewhere.

Re: Appstate Endzone Camera
Flat rooftop and patio seating on top of the south end zone bathrooms is a novel idea which seems interesting. If those bathrooms are remodeled and expanded why not also put bleachers along the field facing sides to both going up 8 feet won't be too wide in the pavement area especially now that there is a huge flat paved area around the video board. These would just be overflow student and general admission seats but probably would be able to get 1000 bleacher seats there and hide the two bathrooms. Obviously the sight lines won't be great but better than the view for the three thousand people standing on that pavement area for the game.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 10:39 am1. I don’t disagree with that at all. My comment wasn’t meant as a dissension to the idea. My comment was intended to speak to the “No excavation being needed.” I imagine that there would need to be some sort of enhancements made to current footings at the least.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 12:07 pmFlat rooftop and patio seating on top of the south end zone bathrooms is a novel idea which seems interesting. Re: Appstate Endzone Camera
Throwing out ideas is what message boards are for. Neither I, nor you, nor anyone else here (probably) are on the board or work high enough up in the athletics office to have any real impact on stadium growth. So what I laid out is a vision that addresses some problems and undoubtedly creates a few new ones. My idea saw the elimination of one premium space and the creation of a different one that actually has a better view of the field. You have to be able to play 3D chess when thinking up stadium enhancements. You have to be able to think past what section of the field one coach said in an interview once he likes to use in practices. One change always leads to another.
Ultimately we’re just dudes on a fan site sharing ideas. That’s all.

Ok. They are ideas on a message board. So there can’t be a disagreement or a cogent response as to why that isn’t feasible without people getting their knickers in a twist?APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 12:33 pmThrowing out ideas is what message boards are for. We aren’t decision makers here, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t think like decision makers and look at the idea holistically from all angles.
One of the biggest obstacles that limits the number of people that we can squeeze into the stadium isn’t the current seating or the “underutilized” space is the flippin’ gates in and out of KBS. The Fire Marshall won’t sign off on more people until the gates can be made to open wider. It sounds like an easy fix, but clearly it isn’t or we would have done it by now.
And I’m not providing feedback with you to be argumentative. These are conversations that have been had.

So if a major issue is ingress and egress, (which I fully understand and agree is a problem) why did you categorically shoot down a SE gate on the basis “nobody will walk up that hill”? Our whole campus is a hill. Fans have to walk up and down several of them to get to the stadium from their parking spots. It’s not like it’s whole new concept to people.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 12:47 pmOk. They are ideas on a message board. Using the field level gate in the NEZ doesn’t really alleviate the bottleneck because it still pushes everyone to the same general area…the NEZ.

Re: Appstate Endzone Camera
You apparently didn’t read my entire comment. I questioned the feasibility of staffing a SE Gate with ticket scanners and security for what would be nothing more than an auxiliary option for those unwilling to wait in line. Given that anyone using said gate to enter or exit would still have to pass the NE gate to get there, as there is no parking above the NE gate, it doesn’t really correct the bottleneck issue. I.E. is the juice worth the squeeze. I myself would probably choose to walk uphill to that gate to avoid the crowd, but it still wouldn’t justify the cost.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 12:52 pmSo if a major issue is ingress and egress, (which I fully understand and agree is a problem) why did you categorically shoot down a SE gate on the basis “nobody will walk up that hill”? And again. I’ve asked that question about the SE gate.
