Are you Kinship to my wife? She also tells me what I mean when I'm speaking english. Can you get me this translation dictionary fro Christmas that you both must have?UncleClark174 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 1:03 pmWoodstovegang Translated: “The 130K COVID-19 deaths outside of Watauga don’t affect me and my Harris Teeter runs. Those who did die were already in nursing homes so they were already on their way out. Let’s risk the lives and long term health of the offensive and defensive lines since the skill positions have a better shot at full recoveries. Chance of permanent damage to me is minuscule and shouldn’t impact my God-given right to tailgate. I want our players safe more than anyone, but this is OVERKILL for a virus that the CDC, WHO, and all G7 countries have deemed a pandemic. Pray for the Warp Speed program run by a guy that Trump’s IG determined could maintain his investments in the drug industry, while awarding government contracts for vaccine development, because there is ZERO chance of a conflict of interest.“Woodstovegang wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 8:24 pmLets be real more Americans had died in cars in my county than covid-19. Most deaths were at nursing homes. Watauga county has a small amount of cases. Take out the 300 pound players whom might have diabetes and you have young VERY health athletes. Chance of permanent damage is minuscule. I want our player safe more than anyone, BUT this is OVERKILL for a virus that no one can say ANYTHING definitive about. Pray for the Warp speed program.

Re: Is the inevitable being postponed?
So no proof beyond "I think..." Therein lies some of the problems.
I don't listen to much anything Fauci has said to be honest. I am not trying to avoid him but I am not searching him out either specifically. I have read some science literature on my own. I don't claim to have done any research on this myself but I have no reason to not accept the research done by others that are experts in the field. I would accept Fauci an expert but there are others as well.
I have yet to read any literature that said face masks are 100% effective but most everything I have read does say masks do help and yes some masks are more effective than others masks is something that also tends to be mentioned. The help from the masks tends to be it seems in stopping someone with Covid from spreading it to others. As many carriers we may have that are not showing symptoms this is important it would seem.
The science community has a lot to learn about this over the coming months and years. Don't be surprised if you read about changes in the messaging you hear. That should be expected as more is learned. Maybe there is lots of research that states face masks are worthless but that is not the best and most current research right now based on what I have read, and I don't see that changing. Areas of the world that have lower rates of spread have a much higher rates of mask wearing.
Looking at data that is not quite three hours old as I type this shows Sweden with the 7th worse per capita rate in the world. Not exactly a resounding success.

There are lots of variables at play here so it is not a case of them bad and somebody else good, but Sweden, for whatever reason, is not really in a good spot.

I'm mystified that people still think masks are for their protection rather than the protection of others. Please, as college students/alumni, don't be ignorant! We wear masks to protect other from us. We wear masks as a way to say "I care about you and therefore I wear a mask".

Re: Is the inevitable being postponed?
Explain the masks are more for protection of others. For years they have been distributed in the medical community as PPE. They protect the wearer. The N5 masks have exhale valves that expel air unfiltered to make breathing easier. The tests that I have seen have the wearer cough directly into a petri dish at a 12 -18" distance which isn't realistic unless someone is coughing or sneezing in your face which in this day and age is grounds for a good ole ass whooping.
Wear the mask to protect yourself. Encourage others to do the same. But I don't get the "it's to protect others".

Re: Is the inevitable being postponed?
When you typed N5 did you mean N95 or is there an N5 mask you are referring to? I wanted to make sure we are talking about the same thing when I send a reply later.mike87 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 7:38 amExplain the masks are more for protection of others.
