The day some years ago in the mid or late 90s-the years blur I guess , but my wife and I were in Boone I think during the summer at a workshop. This might have been 1995. Anyway the older place near Makoto's was still open, we thought, and Peppers was in the the current Mountain House Restaurant near the Big Lots was also a second Pepper's. Both were closed as in shuttered. My wife was NOT happy. They had just moved to the current location. What a relief. The founder of Peppers was an App student who dropped out to start the restaurant(s)...quite successfully at that. I say restaurants because he first started down around the 800 block of Blowing Rock Rd.

I believe the wording they used was "it was an arithmetic issue".
Somehow I managed to never eat there. Went to try it a few years ago but left after I saw their B rating. As far as breakfast, I'm still mourning the loss of Knights on Main and the "old" Mountain House, but Sunrise isn't too shabby.
