Those are really cool. I just hope our default home uni's are black.
Re: App State and Nike through 2022, Big News Coming Wednesd
agree that black pants would make it even better, but overall I like it.

After thinking about it, I think I like the monochromatic look.... all black, all white and now all gold and I really like the dark black matted helmets. The gold masks are sharp too.

Re: App State and Nike through 2022, Big News Coming Wednesd
It doesn't mean two cents what we think about the unis. It's obviously exciting for the kids and that's what is important. The recruits will get to see all the different combos and in todays world that excites them. Nothing wrong with that. I would prefer the Alabama, one uniform with the block A every week, but I'm not one of today's recruits. It's not the end of the world either way.
However, the most positive thing I took from the pics had nothing to do with the unis. If you give Malachi a close look in those pics, the most impressive thing to me is he looks like he's chiseled out of stone or twisted metal. Obviously, the S&C has been working. He looks like he is going to be a handful to bring down this year.

This looks more like yellow. hate to see our colors high jacked. Give me Black and Mountaineer old gold! Truly classic and classy

I don't understand what is meant by "old gold"? Are we talking the color of Wofford/Purdue? If so then no thanks. I'm fine with the current colors just give me back the white block A on the black helmet. I don't care if it's matte either.WVAPPeer wrote:APP hasn't used "gold" since I started attending games in 1998...
Anyone know who made the call to go to the black block A? Seems like it's just a football thing..

I think we made the switch from "old gold" to the current yellow in the '70s. Not sure on the date - the current colors were so well-established by the time I was a student in the '90s that I had no idea App ever wore actual gold until years later.WVAPPeer wrote:APP hasn't used "gold" since I started attending games in 1998...

I see the concern some might have with how bright this gold/yellow is, especially with the all gold look pictured.
But "old gold" is literally the ugliest color (besides purple, but that's just an association thing) in the world. I think a more accurate term would be "ear wax" or "dehydrated urine."

I assume most have seen this by now, but App has released some pics of the various possible combinations. So while all-gold is an option, it could also be a black/gold combo.
I'm a big fan of the combo Bobo is modeling here.

I believe the first year for Athletic/Yellow gold was 1983 when Mack Brown came in. Supposedly our supplier at the time (Cooks Sporting Goods in Wilksboro) had trouble getting gold uniforms that matched. They convinced our AD to use Athletic Gold as it was much easier to match and supply. A lot of schools (Pitt and Wake come to mind) switched in that time period due to this. Of course some have switched back to their original colors as companies were able to produce better products.EastHallApp wrote:I think we made the switch from "old gold" to the current yellow in the '70s. Our version of athletics gold has changed over the years to the point it is now almost yellow. It was a few shades deeper in the 80's when we first switched.
You can sorta get a feel for it in this video. OK so not eally, but it's crazy to see how much things have changed.

I like the all yellow uniforms. I love the old Yosef logo, mainly because it brought back the old mascot attire. However, not a fan of the logo on the helmet. I feel as though the Block A is more marketable, and increases recognition of our fine university. At the end of the day, performance on the field outweighs any uniform combination. I go to games to see touchdowns scored, hear Hi-Hi Yikas, and hear the gun go off. Is it September 5 yet?!

Yeah, I love our standard black and white jerseys, but I have missed the gold. I'm glad to see these in the rotation, and with the black pants...money.Appftw wrote:I think they're freakin' sweet. No mixing of old logos with futuristic fonts and fifteen different colors. Just black and gold, baby.
These are just alternates... right? The "New Deal... New Look" slogan is pretty vague there.

Top 7 Reasons I dislike these Uni's:
1. Where is the All Black and the attitude it bring?
2. The gold looks like Any Given Sunday uni
3. Corn Cobb logo that perpetuates hillbilly image belongs in a museum
4. Nike design team needs to get out of Oregon once and a while
5. The Block A was and is the most recognizable logo and can be SEEN on TV
6. We dont raise enough money to avoid bending over for Nike.
7. Georgia Southern knows who the are and keep their uni's the same.
I'll still love us playing but come on man!

I can live with any of the combinations except the gold pants, white jersey, black helmet. That combo looks hideous.
Very glad to see that Victory Yosef will adorn the helmets as an alternate logo.
Still wish we hadn't gone away from the white Block A as the primary logo though. That black Block A just hasn't grown on me yet.

They have Alabama knock offs and sport the product of the worst of the three major uniform providers. I don't care what the Stink does because they're half the program we are. Our tradition is change.Rekdiver wrote:7. Georgia Southern knows who the are and keep their uni's the same.

Re: App State and Nike through 2022, Big News Coming Wednesd
What if at the Georgia Southern game App comes out for pre-game in some form of the yellow/gold uniforms and then goes back into the locker room changes in to the all blacks with the white block A helmet for the entrance/kickoff? I think that would be a cool way to fire up the crowd, although I think the crowd wont need any extra gimmicks on that night.
I am just glad we are getting closer to the season starting.

Re: App State and Nike through 2022, Big News Coming Wednesd
Lots o' truth in Gonzo's post.
I don't get why people get so upset about ALTERNATE uniforms. It's not like we're going away from all-black or the block A as our primary look. It's something different to do for 1-2 games a year, and most players and recruits seem to like it.
And in case people haven't noticed, these are pretty reserved for alternates. No crazy fonts, no chrome helmets, no giant logos on the helmets, only official school colors... only the brightness of the all-yellow is a big departure (besides the Yosef helmet, of course). Otherwise, these are a pretty traditional style.

I believe I saw some open containers of alchohol in the car and at the game in that video. Maybe that is why they didn't care what color the jerseys were.
