I just sat down and watched that movie with my daughter, who is a senior in high school. Her response after watching the movie. College terrifies me.appaneer1984 wrote:It's a sad day when the movie "PCU" looks more normal than an actual university.

It is actually an affirmation of science to realize that not everyone fits in a nice binary system as much as some wish that would be the case. There is XX and XY but also XXY as one quick example. There is also XXYY and even XXXXY. That is just at the chromosome level.Gonzo wrote:The sky is green. The earth is flat. Up is down. Men are women. Women are men.

Next time you hear a leftist rant about "climate change deniers," just remind them of their stance on penis vs vagina if they accuse you of rejecting science.
There are all sorts of hormones in the body and the amounts produced is not set for any one sex in a binary sort of way. That is another level of sexual identification.
Body parts is just the outward appearance, and even that can not always be so easy to determine either.
Lots of shades of gray.

Thank you for your thoughtful response to an uneducated post. Some people are very threatened by people and ideas they don't understand. Every time I read such drivel it is clear to me how Trump is polling so well. It is frightening but his numbers are probably better than they appear because most educated people will not admit to holding these ignorant views but many very much agree with him.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:It is actually an affirmation of science to realize that not everyone fits in a nice binary system as much as some wish that would be the case. I'm not saying their condition is insincere, I'm saying their condition is a disorder and should treated as such rather than glorified and normalized.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:It is actually an affirmation of science to realize that not everyone fits in a nice binary system as much as some wish that would be the case. Stupid reasoning but who cares. Did any of you ever vote for homecoming king or queen when you were a student? I haven't and don't plan to

I have told many people either side would win in a landslide if they had chosen more reasonable candidates. So since you are a Mountaineer I will agree (even though he is more awful

Haha yeah!! And sadly the real experience is 10 times worse than that movie!!! I honestly don't think I would survive college in today's climate. I'd be rebelling against the system nonstop.AppSt94 wrote:I just sat down and watched that movie with my daughter, who is a senior in high school. Her response after watching the movie. Re: Changes to homecoming format
Like a couple of others in this thread, I simply couldn't care less about Homecoming King/Queen or Mighty Mountaineer. Yes, I agree that the "Mighty Mountaineer just sound silly....but I think the same thing about Homecoming King/Queen. Back in the dark ages when I was in school, there was only a Homecoming Queen (no king) and I remember when guys started running for "queen." Yes, it was all a big joke for most of us even back then and we were already trying to be WAY too PC.
It's all irritating to hear about but I'm there for the game and really don't care about whatever format the popularity contest takes.

Re: Changes to homecoming format
I should be the Mighty Mountaineer (*edit* "Top of the Rock"). Freshman in 2001. Joined the military after 9/11. Served honorably. Combat disabled from my 4th deployment. Back at App Fall 2013. Graduating in December. How do I enter?

Re: Changes to homecoming format
"Top of the Rock" sounds less ridiculous than "Mighty Mountaineer".
I was going to say though....there are no gender specific criteria for the competition, although the candidates will have to grow a full beard...right?
