McKethan Brothers Barbecue
What happened? Closed it seems. I was there after GaSt and they had good business that day and for Idaho it was closed?

Pedalin' Pig right down the rode is good. In fact there was an hour wait after Idaho, though I am sure some of that business was from McKethan Bros being closed. I was back in Boone last Tuesday to give a short talk to a Physics class and took in the Pedalin' Pig since I was way to hungry after Idaho to wait an hour for Q. It was good, and I was eating left-overs from Tuesday's supper, which is why I remembered to finally ask my original question.

Speaking of....does anyone know what originally happened to Bandanas? Was this just a change of ownership to Mckethan Bros? I never tried it after Bandanas went away but always wanted to know what happened there...
There was always a wait after the games and some good Q.

Hate to hear it. I thought their Q was good and their location convenient when I didn't feel like driving to Woodlands. I last ate there the Friday night before the Miami game on Saturday.

Re: McKethan Brothers Barbecue
The owners of Bandanas sold the business to the McKethans. I do not think the deal included the real estate and the McKethans were leasing the building. I never liked Bandanas BBQ and McKethan was not an improvement. The Pedalin Pig opened up and had much better food in my opinion. That coupled with the terrible access probably took it's toll. The access for PP is not that much better but the food and bar scene is good enough to make it work it seems.
That said Woodlands is still my favorite by a long shot.

Mckethan was over priced for what you got and the Pedalin Pig's food and bar atmosphere is better. Try the brisket French Dip and you will be hooked.

Re: McKethan Brothers Barbecue
McKethan Brothers was overpriced for not a lot of food. The restaurant itself was nice, but the food wasn't anything to write home about. That coupled with Woodlands and Pedalin' Pig being superior in all realms likely led to the end of McKethan Brothers. I'd love to see Woodlands rent out the place, though, and open a place up in Boone. As good as the one in Blowing Rock does, it'd do killer in 28607.

The High Country Grizzlies had their founding presser at McKethan. I think there's going to be apt comparisons between the two.
