I knew that talks of this were in the air when I went there, but I really didn't think the building would be torn down considering how good of a shape it was in. Oh well, guess the architect knows more than me about these types of things. At least moving toward our 2020 vision is good!

I wish the number of windmills was so great that after the solar panels are maxed out the wind would be all ASU and even the larger New River Power and Light community would need and there would be no need for any fossile fuel needs except as a dire backup.

The windmill is awesome. It's very unique and a powerful symbol of our emphasis on sustainability. I wish it was bigger tbh.

I have many great memories of football weekends while staying at the Broyhill Inn. I still think there is a big need for an on campus hotel (or within walking distance) for alums and visiting teams and media to be able to use. I know I stayed at the on-campus hotel at LSU and it was great! Even a Courtyard type place would be a welcome addition and somewhat affordable to the masses. Boone is pretty short on decent hotel rooms anyway.

Yep, autocorrect got me again. Trust me there was no brothel activity that I took part in at the Broyhill!

I only visited The Broyhill to eat Sunday brunch and a couple of those sorority pancake dinners. I think it was DZ that did them. I'd be ok if it were replaced with a renewable source of energy.

Yeah renewable energy is a thing of the past. We should invest in a "clean coal" operation in Boone. It's the future!

That is one problem with wind mills. Hence solar first, then wind mills, but still better than fossil fuels. Of course even with 100% renewable energy conserving energy would be the best so we would not need as many wind mills which in the end is better for wildlife such as birds. (Heck, even solar panels are not pollution free in the manufactoring process, but still much better than burning fossil fuels.)

Buildings kill more birds than wind turbines. So, any major city with tall buildings is deadlier.

Grouse (not the brightest birds) used to hit the windows in Gardner all the time. Cheap hunting finding them outside.

While not to get this thread off topic, read about this in the article a few weeks ago in regards to the new Vikings stadium.

We could make the hippies happy by using it as a renewable energy source that powers athletic buildings. 0 carbon footprint and all.
