Concept based on Boone/App Buildings.
All buildings images were take from some height view on Google Earth
Hotel/Convention can be used for visiting teams.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Re: Old WHS site has been sold to ASU
BOONE — The Watauga County Commissioners voted 2-1 Tuesday to sell the former Watauga High School property to Appalachian State University for $18,319,000.
For the 74-acre property off of N.C. 105, the university agreed to pay $15.5 million in cash and offer its old Lowes property on State Farm Road, which the county has eyed as a potential site for a new indoor recreation center.
Commissioners Billy Kennedy and Larry Turnbow voted to approve the sale, while Commissioner Jimmy Hodges voted against the motion.
A February 2016 appraisal by Sweeting Appraisal Services valued the old high school property — which has been on the market since the new high school opened in 2010 — at $16,794,000.
Last week, Watauga Democrat reported that both ASU and Templeton Properties had recently expressed interest in acquiring the property.
Commissioners John Welch and Perry Yates recused themselves from the consideration of offers for the property. Welch is an employee of ASU Athletics, and Yates is the son-in-law of Phil Templeton, owner of Templeton Properties.
In 2016, ASU discussed the old WHS property as a potential site for an expansion of athletic facilities. ASU Athletic Director Doug Gillin had noted last year that the property would already have a track, soccer and softball fields that could be useful.
This story is developing. Check WataugaDemocrat.com for additional information about this sale.

One note on that is that the old lowes building where the warehouse and business building is included with the deal, so that may take some of the room.8993 wrote:http://www.wataugademocrat.com/news/old ... 268d7.html

I was at the Publix media tour this morning. I was wondering why the Watauga County Commissioners weren't there.

This is great news and I believe at $250k an acre the county/city got a fair deal.
The first key domino for track removal has fallen.

I know that JT and others have chimed in on ideas about what to do once the track is removed. Can anyone work up a rendering showing what KBS would look like with field moved toward West side a bit. Can't wait to see some progress (read heavy equipment sited at KBS).Saint3333 wrote:This is great news and I believe at $250k an acre the county/city got a fair deal.

Absolutely huge development for App athletics!
We are so fortunate to have Doug Gillin and Brian Tracy running our athletic department right now.

When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

That's a fact. We truly have a couple of movers and shakers in the athletic dept who have the trust of the chancellor and BOT to get things done!JTApps1 wrote:Absolutely huge development for App athletics!

Great news! My two request.
#1 When they remove the track, re-grade the hill to bring those fans as close to the end zone as possible.
#2 If you can't dig the field down to bring the stands closer, at least add a few rows.
This combined with the north project will help improve the intimacy of the stadium.

This really helps give some perspective of how big the space really is! I didn't realize the space could fit 2 of the old Sheratons on it! The fact there is space left over for the library deck is amazing. This is a great day for App Nation!appgrouch wrote:OHS Complex Labeled (1).jpg
